New licenses become 'package' deal

Anglers will see some big changes in their annual fishing licenses when the 2004-2005 hunting and fishing licenses go on sale at sporting goods stores and other license outlets Sunday.

For the first time, anglers will have to pick a fishing license "package" that matches their fishing preference for freshwater, saltwater or both. The changes were made due to a new $5 freshwater fishing stamp that will be included in all license packages.

For anglers only, the packages will include a freshwater fishing license ($28 for residents, $11 for seniors and $55 for non-residents), a saltwater license ($33 for residents, $16 for seniors and $60 for non-residents) and an all-water license good for both freshwater and saltwater ($38 for residents, $21 for seniors and $65 for non-residents).

Packages combining hunting and fishing licenses include a freshwater combo ($47 for residents and $15 for seniors), a saltwater combo ($52 for residents and $20 for seniors) and an all-water combo ($57 for residents and $25 for seniors).

The popular Super Combo license packages that include all hunting and fishing license privileges and stamps including the new $5 freshwater fishing stamp will cost $64 for residents and $30 for seniors.

Also available is a one-day temporary fishing license with an option to buy additional day privileges at the time of purchase. For freshwater anglers, the one-day license will cost $11. A one-day saltwater license will cost $16, and a one-day, all-water license will cost $21. Each additional day will cost $4. If you have purchased a one-day license in the past and want to buy another one at a later date, the cost for will be $6 with each additional day costing $4.

Non-resident one-day licenses will cost $17 for freshwater, $22 for saltwater and $27 for all-water with each additional day costing $8. Other new licenses are a "year-to-date" license for residents only that will cost $45 and will be valid for 365 days from the date of purchase and a $35 license good for July and August only.

Big P, could you figure up a combo liscense for me I need a freshwater stamp, archery stamp, turkey stamp, scenery stamp, atv stamp and a port a potty stamp. I still can't beleive I can not fish anywhere in the state with a fishing liscense. I just doesn't make sense. Why not raise the price of the fishing liscense by $5. That would make more sense than a freshwater stamp. OK I'm through I found some cheese to go with my wine.
I see my rod is longer than yours.

I agree comletely. That is why for Chrismas I am getting a lifetime hunting and fishing license. By the time I am 55 a license here for a resident will be as much as an out of state in Colorado. :-(

They still show to be $1000 on their website. Did yall know you can now buy your license online? I didn't and it costs $5 for S&H but it is good to know that option is now out there also.

I have really been thinking about buying a lifetime combo license this year. I am still mad I didn't buy it when it was $500 years ago. I think I have spent more then that on the super combo (can't remember how many years that has been an option)

I buy my Arkansas out of state hunting license online. It is the only way to go unless you like standing in a 30-40 minute line at Walmart the night before season opens. It's a real mad house, and I'm sure you can just imagine the type of people on either side of you. If you combined all the people together you could probably get a full set of teeth.

I generally buy my Texas stuff at the Garland office so that I get my dove booklet immediately. My Kansas one I get online and my Missouri one I get at the park next to where we stay -- never a line in October.

Richard, that was funny...

I have yet to hunt anywhere out of Texas. I don't understand when we have all we could ever want. If we don't we just import it!
