I know this is a fishing page. But I wanted to share the results of my hunting trip with my fishing buddies.

First time turkey hunting since I was a kid. Went to Mason in the hill country with my ex's uncle. Weather was great.

Arrived to hear the bad news that the toms were coming in to calls, they were henned up. It took us 3 days to figure out exactly where a good gobbler was and the area that he was working. On the last morning we arrived close to where he should have been. About 6:30, heard him gobbling from the roost 200 yards further up the draw! My heart sank. We decided to wait him out and see if he would show. 7am, heard him drumming and then he popped out in the open 80 yards out. Adrenaline time! Heart was pounding. He finally strutted his way towards me. At 25 yards I popped him with a #6 3" magnum. My first gobbler. He weighed 20lbs, 12" beard and 3/4" spurs. Here are a couple of pics. Will make a pretty fan mount

Congrats on the turkey. I haven't had any problems getting them to respond to a call, just leaving the hens.

Great lookin bird HB, spring turkey hunting really is a rush, but I am having a hard time pulling myself away from fishing... I need to get busy and go bust me a gobbler before season is over.

Congrats on a great first gobbler...
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Hey Picou, that is the same thing that Texfisher is saying. I would have rather gotten one with a bow, but I got one none the least. Hope you get a chance to go. What day are you fishing the texoma tournament?
