Had charters all weekend. Guided a friend from Lafayette out of Cocodrie La due to wanted to get some GPS routes and marks on his new Champion bay boat. Hit a bunch of spots on a very short trip. Ended up with around 20 trout. Just never got on them.

Guided for Phillip's services Saturday and Sunday. Made the long rough haul out to the island's Saturday morning. I've never seen so many boats in my life. Any form of landmark had boats stacked three rows deep around it. Was just miserable fishing. Could not float anything due to people pulling up and around you. Finally we decided the only way we would catch fish was to jump out and due some wading in the troughs boats could not reach. Solid decision. Wound up with right at 120 trout between 9 people before getting run off by squalls trying to sandwich us in from N and S.

Had a smaller group for Phillip's Sunday. They decided Redfish were the ticket today due to they wanted to be back by 11 am. The reds are just unbelievably thick. Schools were spotted everywhere but the fish were very finicky due to no tide yesterday morning. Still wound up with 13 with about 5 lost before 10 am. Not a bad trip. Sorry no pictures.

Chris, it's sad but anything not resulting in a limit is a disappointment to me especially when it comes to redfishing. I'm South La spoiled: what can you say!!

Wade, you've almost got me convinced to go visit ya'll. How big are the majority of trout & reds ya'll are catching?

Trout this time of year average 14-16" with some 18-22" fish. If you want to catch larger trout there are some rigs you can go fish that you won't catch the #'s usually but will catch larger fish.

Redfish is hard to say. Anywhere from 16" to 15 to 20 lbs is possible in the same spot. I know I'm booked up guiding the next 4 weekends. I told you it would happen at once. Went from not knowing if I would even be guiding this year to booked solid.

sounds like fun. I have to agree with Simek. Your average trips are better than my good days. Guess that's why you guide and I don't. :0)

Awww, you guys are going to make me blush...

Does not compare to Nana's exploits this spring. She is the one who needs to become a guide!
