Went offshore yesterday - Had a great time but the catch was not great. Sorry - No Pics.. We didn't put into the water until around 3:30 in the afternoon - spur of the moment thing.. We went 22mi out of Freeport. Fished a few rigs. We cought a hand full of snapper, 1 King and 1 Shark. But this was not the thrill.

We saw several Dolphin (bottlenose)swimming around us at one rig. My friend threw a small fish to them and - they took it! (no - not on a line) We were catching a lot of small fish and we would throw them to the dolphin and they would get many of them and we were drawing them closer to the boat. The water was so clear that you could see them under the water and see them chase the fish when you toss them in. We drew them as close as 15ft from the boat - Awsome!!

One line we had drifting off the back had a pull on it so I grabbed it and started to pull it in. I thought it was running to me because the slack was so. When I got it maybe 10 yards from the boat we saw a Hammerhead shark following the bait in. This thing was at least 6ft long. My buddy said well over 100lb. I stopped reeling and sure enough - it ate it and ran!! FISH ON!!! I gave the rod to my buddy (since he he wasnt catching much)and said it was his! He held the rod for a few minutes watching the line peel.Unfortunately the shark got off. Bummer - I wanted to see it really up close and get a better perspective - and he wanted to make a few meals out of it.

What a thrill to see huge dolphin and huge shark so close to the boat! Man I love off shore experiences!
All In A Days Fun!!!

sounds like fun. dolphin are always a blast to have around until they start eating the fish you catch while you are reeling them in.

Sound like a great time over all. Catching a big shark really gets your blood pumping and playing with the dolphins can be a blast. I am hoping to get out next Friday for an offshore trip.

Congrats on another successful OS trip. TAKE THE CAMERA NEXT TIME :-)

Stick a disposable in the boat and leave it there so at least you always have a camera in the event of a fish of a lifetime.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish
