I saw this on another board and wondered what you thought of it. It's for removing the hook from fish that are hooked in the gullet. I usually just cut the line, having been told the hook will dissolve my whole life. I mean it's on the internet, so it's got to be true right? I think I would feel better knowing that I got the hook out. I always wonder if the fish actually do make it when you cut the line. What do you think?

Mine usually die from hot grease dunking so never really thought about it! :-) Will have to remember that for after I've limited on reds though. Thanks Sluggo! Great article to share.

Thanks Justin I used it on Friday and it worked great, definately saved a couple of fish. I've never really like cutting the line either.

I've done this many times along the coast and offshore with species that have lots of teeth. You literally have no other choice.

Great share. I always keep a long pair of needle nose pliers handy to get inside the gills without too much hassle. Some of those teeth fish also have sharp gill plates too.
