Woke up to make the run to Dularge at 5 am this morning. Right before I'm walking out the door my 5 month old starts yelling. Well, my wife starts yelling at me so I get to feed the baby. So at 6 I walk out the door. By the time I fill up and got launched it is 6:45 or so. Jump in boat. Battery DEAD. Left bilge pump on. Have to disconnect troll motor battery to start the boat so by time I pull up to first spot it is 7:15 or later. Can't decide if I want to throw a spoon first or top water first. Since it is just me and only need five fish decide I'd try topwater. FIRST CAST: Explosion. 26" red on pinfish topdog! I troll about 28 yds and I notice the nervous water. Don't know how it will look but it is solid reds in that slick looking spot just off bank. Solid big reds almost all over 27". These reds are chasing and exploding on my top dog all over the place and some reason they just will not commit to it. I switched to a spoon and 3 more quick fish. This school moves on and another one coming. These fish are not quite as big. Pick up Top Dog again and a quick 10 fish. Suddenly fish just disappear from site at least. I start working the bank. You can't see them tailing or waking at all. But they are there!. As you drift the bank you could just see laying in the water schools of 5-15 redfish with little to no movement and they just got finicky. Without polarized glasses you would have sworn there was not a fish around. Sun came up and little to no tide shut the bite down apparently. I would still catch one of out every group (which thankfully there were plenty of) as I drifted around but you really had to sit there and throw at them to make one eat. And I mean throw at them twenty to thirty times. Top dog suddenly scared them to death. And if you even thought about bumping the troll motor when on high they were in high gear with no chance of catching them. Wound up catching another 20-25 more fish on spoons and plastic cocahoes but really took a lot of throwing for all the redfish I was watching swim around. It was just amazing. It was nothing to have a group of 30 fish or so swim by at anyone time. If Rob would have had his bow his arm would have been tired!!! Redfishing is heating up and I for one I'm ready to catch some more. And I'm sure the Trout Slam was also on this morning due to it was slick as glass!!! I thought hard about running to the coast but was not real sure I had enough gas in my boat to make it and it got HOT QUICK SON! Good luck to all you guys this weekend. I'll be at it again tomorrow but targeting bass more than reds initially. I've been known to pinch a tail or two in my life!

Well I went back with the guy I charter fish with this morning. We went check out some marsh we had not fished in a while mainly looking for bass. We pulled up and whammy the bass bite was on. We put about twelve in the boat on buzz baits and lost 5-6 more. Suddenly nothing. Fish quit and had a rough time getting anything else to bite. We check out some other marsh and caught about 4 reds and a couple more bass when we look back to the North and Holy Weatherman there is a storm brewing. We hightailed it in and just made it. Lightning everywhere and heavy rain. Was it ever close. And only 9:45. Sorry, I brought the camera but I forgot the disk in the computer from posting this thread! Well I got home about 12:30 after goofing off in Dularge awhile. About 1:30 in mid nap my two nephews walk in my house begging me to bring them fishing. Well, next thing I know my two girls are begging to go also. So we packed up and went fishing. We had a real good time and caught 10 bass and no reds. Some reason I missed a good dozen bass also (could not be the fact that I had to hand my rod to one of my two girls everytime I caught one but the joy was worth it). A few reds followed the buzz baits but just would not hit the commit button. If I would have had any help from nephews (and my girls would not be so loud) we should have had easy limits. Bass caught on buzz baits, zoom horny toads, and zoom green bass flukes. Decide we would go try to catch a red or two in the area I caught them yesterday morning. Some reason I threw a drive pin in troll motor right when we get there so the day was pretty much done. Just forgot the camera this time!! Sorry. Hope everyone has a good FATHER'S DAY!!! I think I'll be eating some tasty bass about noon tomorrow and maybe a slab of BBQ red! I've been known to pinch a tail or two in my life!

We Will see, Rob! We will see! Will, I live in Houma, La. Fish just SW of there out of Dularge La. Goes from Fresh to brackish to salt all within about a 8 mile line. The best part during certain times of the year and in certain areas you can throw out your line and you may catch a bass, a red, a flounder, a trout, or even a crappie? WTG Bigun... That looks like some exciting fishing to say the least. It is times like that which illustrates your knowledge of the fish and how to catch them. Most anglers would have probably moved on looking for more active fish. I look forward to making it down there again for some of that awesome redfish action.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

PQ I'm bringing the bow fishing rig to clean up on those that don't bite. I've been told if I can shoot Wes's fish as he reels it in, I get credit for the catch |

LMAO....Wes will not catch any anyway! You might need it. I just talked to my guide buddy and he says since Sat it is like the fish just disappeared. He has run all over creation and no fish of any type found. Sure it is probably the moon or tide. He is kind of worried the run is over. He seems to think everything is early this year. I think it still is just not hot enough!!! I've been known to pinch a tail or two in my life!
