Im just getting into bass fishing and Im getting tired of having to retie lures because one aint working, some people tell me not to use swivels because they dont let the lure work right. Is this true?

I don't care for them. Some people use them. Just don't look natural. Just an excuse to buy more rod/reel combos! :-)
It kinda looks like a SNOOK!

I rarely use them. For me, depends on the lure. If the lure tends to twist the line up badly, I may use the smallest swivel I can find.

I avoid swivels for these reasons -- they effect the action of the bait, the get weak and can give on a good fish, and I don't like them... :-)

That is why I have 9 rods in the boat, keeps me from having to change lures.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish
