Well, we headed out yesterday to do some family crabbing on Oyster Creek. Unfortunately, the crabbing was not stellar, more than likely because we were at the tail end of the falling tide and the water was low over there. We caught several little crabs and Connie managed 2 of them that went 4.5" point to point.

After some non-lucrative crabbing my brother in law pulled out his fishing pole and started getting bit under a bobber. I too pulled out a rod and let Corey start catching white trout, drum, and hardheads. Poor Corey, I was over at the truck and she caught a hardhead. Before I could tell her to leave it, she tried to grab it like any other fish and it stuck her. She was a trooper and just told me it hurt. I took the fish off the hook and rubbed the slime on her bleeding wound and in no time she was feeling fine and fishing again. She was proud of herself for not crying and I was proud of her as well for being a trooper. Shortly after she started fishing agian she landed a little drum.

Shortly after the drum Buddy hooked into one of these acrobatic ladyfish and enjoyed the display...

Once we finished using up the shrimp we decided to come home and start getting ready for a nice steak dinner.

Back at the beach house Jessica went out to build a sand castle and play on the beach while we prepared dinner and the ladies relaxed on the porch with a glass of whine.

More beer was consumed and an excellent dinner was enjoyed by all.

After dinner Buddy and I headed to SLP pier and even though there was a small crowd we found a spot at one of the lights. The wind was stiff but I managed to catch 15 or so trout that were all between 13.5 - 14.5 inches long. I was using a tony acceta pet spoon on a 5 foot leader below a weighted popping cork. It was frustrating becuase I was watching the trout smack the spoon but I missed more than I hooked. I also had at least one keeper on but he fell off trying to hoist up the 12' sides of the pier. It was great to see all those trout under the lights and the water was nice and green. I did not take any pictures off the pier but I will the next time I head over there. Buddy did not get a fish up on the pier but did get some hookups that just would not make it back to the pier. It was incredible to watch schools of 6 - 18 inch mulled cruizing through and then all of the sudden a 30 trout would destroy the school. I will hook into one of them on the next adventure over there... :-) We made it back to the house around 4:00am and lots of sleep was in order... :-)
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Cool. PQ have you tried anything white under the lights? That is the ticket for the bigger fish here. Just curious.
