Well, things have definately started to slow down here on the coast. The fishing has been tough but the weather and company has been great. We headed to the pass on Tuesday night and fished the pier and I ended up with about 15 specks that were between 13.5 - 14.5 inches. I lost one that appeared to be in the 17 - 18 inch range trying to hoist it up over the rails on that 12' tall pier. There were a lot of trout in the lights and I probably missed twice as many as I landed. Being able to see the trout take my pet spoon caused me to set the hook too soon and I pulled it out of many a yella mouths. We fished till around 3:00am and came home empty handed. Had the limit still been 14", I would have easily had that taken care of. I'll give it another shot, there was just too many fish under those lights not to do it again. Yesterday the kids wanted to go "Perch Jerkin" so we headed out to the Sea Isle pier w/ some dead shrimp and got busy... There were many piggy perch caught and the kids had a great time. They also caught a few croaker and white trout. I tossed the cast net and got a few fingerling mullet and tossed them out on rod in hopes of finding a roaming redfish but that was not to be. Once we were done with all the fun on the pier and new records of number of fish my wife touched... We headed back to the house to get ready for the fish fry. Buddy un-corked a bottle of wine and the festivities began. Once the grease was hot the party moved downstairs and we had a great fish dinner thanks to Brent for putting me on the fish the first night. Everyone enjoyed the fish and we sat by the cooker telling stories about our spouses and having a great family time. I really enjoyed that time and was dissapointed that Connie's sister and husband had to leave the next morning. I decided to run out to the subdivision pier after dinner to see what was shaking under the lights. I also made a run by Brent's place but there were again no trout in his lights. The pier was no different and I only saw maybe 2 pops the 45 minutes I hung around. I decided to call it a night and hope that I could get up early and try the surf or the bay for some wade fishing in the morning. Unfortunately, when my alarm went off I had no desire to get up and just turned it off and went back to sleep. Once my BIL & SIL had left, I grabbed a rod and headed into the surf because the wind turned out of the North and the surf was almost flat. Out in the surf, I felt a couple of bumps on a morro-lure and then saw the fish chase the lure all the way back to me -- within a couple of feet. I fished hard but could not get bit. The big mullet were litterally all over the place and surrounding me. Most of these were in the 12 - 16 inch range and there was just no fish under them to catch. I tossed gold spoons, artificial shrimp fished splitshot rigged, chart/gold catch2000, pumpkin/chart berkly swimming shad. At one point, a young man had come out to fish with dead bait and we were about 30 yards apart. I heard him exclaim -- there's a shark!!!! I asked him how big and how close. He told me it was about a 2 footer and was just a fishing poles length in front of him when he saw it. Shortly there after, he ripps his rodtip back and a shark comes jumping out of the water on the other end. We walked it back to shore to measure and take the hook out. This little blacktip was exactly 23.5" long and was returned to the surf. Of course, all the kids were playing in the water and some of the adults but after that little bugger came in they all stayed a little shallower... The guy and me went back out and continued fishing. I snagged a mullet -- that was fun reeling in a foul hooked 14" mullet... and I caught a small spanish mackerel but that was it. I decided that the fishing was too slow so we all came back in to relax in the A/C and have some fresh boudin for lunch. Tonight I plan on going to the SLP pier by myself and staying most of the night. With the water calm and clear, the trout should be on fire. I was out in water mid belly and i could still see my feet. The only thing is, the water is brown or a stained color and not green. It is very clear and the temperature of the water is very cool. Great for swimming but apparently not great for fishing the area that I am fishing. All in all, we are having a great time and I am not looking forward for it to end. The good news is, my mother in law is already talking about next year's trip down here... Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Yea' Rob, and I have to hunt Saturday and come back for a tournament on Sunday. The Richardson Corporate challenge is having their bass fishing tournament on Sunday the 2nd. I hope to be representing Hewlett-Packard. Of course, if I do not make the cut then I will not have to worry about it and can hunt... Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish
