Had charters for Phillip's Service this weekend. Saturday had three customers and they decide they want to go trout fishing so off to the coast we went. Pulled up to the first oyster reef I like to fish and the boat had not even come to a rest and one of the customers had a double on. Cursed for the day!!! Fished all over the coast that morning and wound up with about 16 trout. Very disappointing. Trout are really on the move and are disappearing off the beaches. They will disappear for a while and show back up more in the areas I like to fish in (ie, closer to home). Only problem all this usually happens about the time I start bowhunting. What's a guy to do? Fished with the three same guys Sat afternoon and redfish was the target. But struggle we did. Just could never get on any fish and there were three different tourneys on and a lot of my spots I fished were packed with boats. Tide was low and was hard to fish up in the marsh. I wanted to try some big lakes and bays but have not caught much in them in a month or so so stuck it out in the amrsh. Very discouraging again and wound up with 6 keeper reds and a couple bass. Worse I talked to a few people and they all caught Sat afternoon in one of the lakes I normally catch fish. BUMMER! Well I guess one of them did not want to fish with me again Sun AM (J/J:he had to meet a dog trainer to pick up his lab in Baton Rouge area before 10 am) and of course on the redfish we jump. Reds everywhere visibly cruising grass lines tearing mullet up. Amazing what happens when you actually find fish. The two customers that stayed were excited, had a blast, and back at the camp before 9 am. And some big slabs on that. Almost forgot pictures again until Ryan mentioned he wanted pictures after cleaning one of them. So now I'm just chilling in the A/C thinking about next weekend!
It kinda looks like a SNOOK!

Great fish. I know what you mean about fall fishing and bowhunting. Tough life having to decide between the 2. If you're richer than me I think we're related. If you're poorer than me I know we're related. My bass club webpage http://texbass.8m.com/

You are right Bigboy. I had trips like that with you, you just did not catch any. It's not a tough decision for me. I bowhunt 2 weeks in Ks and maybe two weekend in Tx. I fish the other 10 month weekends plus any day I can get off work. It kinda looks like a SNOOK!

You been there before or something Simek??? Did not measure them other than I know we had three over 27 (just checked them for that because can only have one per person per day over 27). I would say we had two that were 29 to 30" Simek. We caught a few more over 27 that had to go back and popped a line on a couple also. There were some real horses in these packs of fish. It kinda looks like a SNOOK!

I lost an 8 year old Calcutta to the Lake Decade Reef Building program that has caught MORE redfish than should be allowed. Not a more deserving burial than burial by sea. The screws would not stay tight and spool wobbled. I did not see much exciting about that. I miss the Lightening rod more than the reel and it had a broken middle eye. My buddy I fish with laughed and told me I did myself a favor. I can buy myself two curado's now and not feel guilty. It kinda looks like a SNOOK!
