Charles, I am just getting into it. I went on a guided trip to Table Rock in July and that is all we used. The thermal cline was at 30 feet and we caught them both suspended and on bottom. We had good luck around bridge pillings and boat docks in deep water and in standing timber in the 30 foot range. With his electronics you could actually see the fish move up and take the bait. I am going to give it a try this weekend.

I used to fish like this for crappie around here. Same basic set up but with tube jigs and light weights. Tried it on Fork last time I was there but got bored with it fast!!!
It kinda looks like a SNOOK!

I keep one tied on in my boat at all times. One of these days I plan on pulling it out and giving it a try.

I have not tried the dropshot rig yet but I am ready when the time comes.

Redneck... for crappie, catfish, sandbass, etc... I use a carolina rig. It gives the kitties room to roll and flop... With the other fish, I use this so that my live bait has some freedom to swim around and when I need to re-tie I just tie to the leader till it is too short and then I replace the leader. Just FYI :-)

pq i thought the dropshot rig was where the hook was tied directly on the line, and the weight is 2-6 ft belowmaking a straight line, w/no leader?

I bought all the rigging to use, just hadn't made myself try it yet. I may as well, nothing else seems to work. What the hay!!!

The reason I ask, is this past Friday I fished with a guide and all we threw was dropshot and caught about 30 fish. I'm sold!

ya i use a carolina rig too for catfish, theyll spit the hook out once they feel tension so it gives a just enough to set the hook.

Since this is a public forum I am not even going to mention what I thought a "drop shot" was.
