I have been trying to call him for the last couple of days. I assume that since he went home they have been without phone, internet, or cell towers. I am sure that he is ok, just really busy I would imagine.

I just got off the phone with him. Cell towers SUCK right now because I would have him clear as day for a few minutes and then crackle & pop the next minute. Everything is ok down there, he bought a 7k watt generator and kept the house going. His dad has power now so they are driving over there. It is just a matter of time now and Houma will be back to normal -- minus a few trees, sheds, shacks, etc...

Well, we are back up and running. Since getting back to Houma Tuesday AM we have had no phone or cell coverage, tv, electricity, or worst yet: internet access (joking of course). First job was to track down my friend whose warehouse I store my 6.5 kw Onan generator in. We happened to pass by the warehouse and he was there. He had power and an ice machine. We forklifted it back into my truck and got energy going at my house. Went to Lowe's and bought a window unit and I've been living like a king compared to what is going on from New Orleans east. None of my immediate family had any damage to any of our property other than a few torn shingles. I've just been helping people with cleaning up trees and other odd jobs. I'm just about worn out but have two more trees to cutup and load today for two of my dad's elderly friends.

Most of Houma town is back up with power but it will be a while for area's down the bayous from Houma. My understanding is hardly any of Thibodaux which is North of us has power. Not a bunch of damage in this area I've seen other than older buildings and warehouses have had some torn roofs. Gas is becoming an issue but I'm pretty well stocked for the time being thinking of this before I left so I brought all my tanks to Lafayette with me and filled them up there.

Houma had NO water problems. Water did not even get in the low lying camps out in the marsh is what I'm being told. I'm sure there are camps out there that are gone but everyone I know still has there. Now Grand Isle to Venice is a way different story. They say Venice is now part of the Mississippi River but I personally have not seen any pictures from that area.

Bigboy's relationship he talks about lived in Mississippi somewhere, not Houma. Tell Aubrey I'm sorry to hear this and if they need something let me know.

The damage from New Orleans East is just awful as I'm sure you have seen but I'm just getting the ability to see. It is just unbelievable to think of the people who have lost everything, will not be able to return to their property for months and may never return at all. Coastal demographics are sure to change from this natural disaster.

Thanks for the call yesterday Bigun. Glad to know that everything is "basically" ok over there.

The damage to New Orleans is terrible for sure. Some things to help are going on up here. Connie signed on to deliver clothes and goods to a hotel here that is providing refuge to displaced NOLA folks. I am going to start a new thread for that one.

Again, glad you and all the family are ok down there and the damage is minimul.
