Took the family to Sea Workd in San Antonio Sunday. We left Saturday - supposed to be early but we took more time getting ready than expected. Too many animals to care for - not to mention the kids.. (we have 6 cats, 2 dogs, 2 mice, 1 rabit, and 3 fish tanks at the house)Finally rolled away from the house around 11:30am. Stopped for BBQ on the way out when I noticed that the wires in the front tire were sticking out. Reached over to touch and a wire latched onto my finger - OUCH - had to manipulate the wire out of my flesh because it had a hook of sort on the end. After lunch we stopped at Costco for new tires. Put Michilins all the way around $700+! OUCH! Finally got on the road around 1:30. We got to the Hotel around 4:30. The hotel is near Sea World - we stayed at the Radison. They boasted 3 swimming pools and when we got there the 3 pools were about the same size as the one at the house... Small! Crowded! Dissapointing. Ordered a few beers and a couple hot dogs for the kids - $35+!! Thunderstorms ran everyone from the pools so we decided to go to the River Walk - around 6:00pm. Had to pay to park, then we went walking. I couldn't believe how crowded it was! We were walking single file most of the time - felt like huge blobs of people going in either direction. Had dinner (another rediculousely expensive venture - and it wasn't even that good) and did a little shopping. It got dark and the crowds got more thick. I couldn't believe all of the hoodlems we saw. Intense police presence though but it didn't make me any more comfortable. There were a lot of sirene activity and ambulances and fire trucks and - - maybe I am just not used to the big city.. Anyway - Sunday when we woke up it was thunderstorming out and we were questioning whether to go or not. Around 9:30am the thunder quit and the rain let up. We decided to go.. GOOD DECISION! We got front row parking. We had free passes to get in (gift), and the temps were perfect! We were able to board any ride we wanted to instantly. In fact - We just stayed in our seat and rode it over and over sometimes. I rode a Roller Coaster for the first time in probably 30yrs. We had excelent seating for the shows and we had a GREAT day! It did rain occasionally and they did temporarily close rides but - no problem - we practically had the park to ourselves! Memories for Life for the whole family. Good thing we forgot the camera, it would have gotten soaked.. All In A Days Fun!!!

Ditto. We went a few years ago. Riverwalk is way iverrated and priced. Seaworld was fun but very expensive. The food was horrible. I have eaten better food from one of the choke and puke trucks that pull up to contruction sites. The Alamo was cool. I don't foresee visting SA any time in the near future. |

I guess we hit Sea World at the right time last year because the crowds were not bad and the temperature was almost perfect. And yes, the beer was expensive but worth every penny after walking around Sea World for a few hours... Never did the River Walk and hopefully never will... Glad you got to have some good family time Dean. It was much needed and overdue. Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish
