Getting ready for the hurricane over here. We have drinking water, pool water, extra water, 2KW generator, food, canned food, flash lights, duct tape, propane, gasoline + 70 gallons in the boat, anything else? Probably wont need any of it though.. Does anyone know if a 2KW generator will run the refregirator? All In A Days Fun!!!

It should if not running much of anything else. Sound like you got the rest covered. Good luck. I'm watching it pretty closely myself watching for that curveball and I'm outta here. Probably go to Ks and harvest some milo and corn for a week if it were to happen. It really is a snook!!!!

Dean, Sorry to hear your riding it out. But I fully understand. You will be in our prayers the next couple of days. Be safe and arm yourself. I have a cousin who has to stay at the dog track to care for the dogs in a kennel. If it were me them dogs would be on their own. |

I have talked to my mom & grandma also and they are staying put NW of Houston. I really think they will be fine w/ the exception of power loss. If this storm keeps turning North North/East, they will just experience some high winds and rain and be just fine. I want so badly to drive down and pick them up but that is probably a foolish task. We will just keep in contact and pray for safety. Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Well, Everything went well - no issues. Glad that thing turned away from us.. I think Bigun got it worse than we did?? Lost power for about 10hr and the generator worked fine with the frige. We had some gusty winds and a lot of pine needles but nothing broken or dislocated. We had maybe 1/8in of rain - maybe! We had to watter the lawn after all.... Thanks for the prayers and support! Now it is time to get back to business - fishing!! All In A Days Fun!!!

We got our power back late yesterday evening. Almost 7 days without. trees down everywhere. Took me 2 days to cut our way to the highway. Had 5 big pin oaks on my back fence, had to fix to keep cows in. 101 degs... 4 big trees down in the yard. No major damage to house. Tv antenna and tower gone, part of patio roof gone and fish cleaning roof gone. Probally have over 100 trees down in the woods. 9 KW diesel powered gen. saved us. I pulled the meter and hooked direct to house. It was running 24 hours and shutting down to re-fuel and check oil. It was using 10 gals per 24 hours and never used a drop of oil. Bought it 5 years ago and really considered it a waste of money.... WRONG.. Boy its nice not to hear that diesel humming... Now my thoughts are turning to the stick & string M&M
