No respect..... :-)

I left the lease yesterday afternoon and went to Duncanville for dinner with the in-laws and got home at 10:45pm to get things ready for the 6:00am start time of the tournament on Sunday...

I'll write something up tonight on the deer if I don't pass out after dinner...
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

It was nothing special, just a doe.

I arrived at the lease late on Friday and went to check on my feeders. I have not been able to make it out to the lease much this year and one of the members who lives nearby checked my feeder below a pond on Wednesday and said it was broken and he thought it was a battery. He took a battery out on Thursday and that still did not fix it -- he said it was just humming when he hit the test button. So, when I got there I drove down to pull the pics off my camera and see what was wrong with my feeder. Turns out it was just the set screw on the spinner plate was loose so I tightened it and my feeder was working again. My other feeder was bone dry. He had told me to sit in his tripod if my other feeder was empty because he could not hunt and was curious to see what was coming in -- feeder had only been running 2 weeks. He told me to shoot anything other than a good buck -- doe, turkey, hogs.

Well, the alarm clock came early and I crawled up in the stand at 6:30am. There was one deer already munching on corn before the sun came up and although I had sufficient light to shoot I convinced my self that it was probably a young buck since it was alone and let it be. It left before it was really light enough to determine if it was a doe or buck. Just before 8:00am 2 doe & 2 fawns came in. The largest doe was trailing and being very cautious. The smaller doe and fawns came right in and started eating so I waited on the older deer.

My heart started racing as she came closer and I moved my release to the string. Finally she was right in my lane and broadside at 18 yards. I slowly drew back and placed the pin high on the the body due to the extreme angle of being 20 foot in the air and released. I looked at my watch and it was 7:59am -- deer #1 down.

Son, don't ever let me catch you saying something like "It was nothing special, just a doe" again, you understand?!?!

Congrats on the most wonderful eating doe! Now go try to get you one of those tough ol' bucks that ain't even worth trying to gnaw on...:-O
