The name of the Agilen/HP Corporate Sports Challenge team is "The Garage Dogs". This name was picked because HP was started in a garage and since Agilent was once part of HP, the garage was fitting. Well, throughout the entire corporate challenge we have been holding pretty steady in the bronze metal position for division B companies. Coming into the weekend the Dogs were 12 points behind Tektronics in the hunt for second place overall. There were 4 events left in the competition and Bass Fishing was one of those. Well, the Dogs closed the gap in a big way today taking the GOLD in the bass fishing competition on Lake Lavon. Tektronics blanked and managed a 1 point earned for participation while the Garage Dogs racked up 10 points for taking first place and closed the gap between 2nd and 3rd place overall to 3 points with only 3 events remaining. The even more glorious part of the tournament was that we beat all teams in all divisions with our 2 boat weight of 24.23 pounds. Both of our boats weighed a limit of fish and we even culled a few fish. The pattern today was rocks, the baits were white 6-8 foot cranks and watermelon red plastics ranging from baby brush hogs, senkos, and finess worms. My partner and I ended up with 11.43 pounds for 5 fish. We caught at least 20 fish today including a crappie, catfish, 2 sandbass, and a yellow bass. Lots of short fish but 6 of them were keepers. We had 20 mintes to weigh in and 4 fish in the box. I boated another keeper making a limit and Gary caught a short fish while I was unhooking mine. We decided to make a few more casts before heading and on the 2nd cast Gary nailed a solid keeper that allowed us to cull a 1.6 pounder. We had a great time... Way to go Mike. You guys did a lot better than I did at Texoma. I fished friday and ended up with a lot of short fish for my second 0 of the year. If you're richer than me I think we're related. If you're poorer than me I know we're related. My bass club webpage http://texbass.8m.com/

Tex, I ran into Travis Weick<sp?> and his partner on the lake. They were having battery wire problems and pulled into a boat slip. We chatted for a few and vowed to dethrone you next year as our goal... You have not missed any tournaments have you? If you drop those two zeros, you should still be in the running for 1st place overall. We had a great time on the lake. I must admit, it has been a pretty good weekend for me. Travis's brother Nathan was fishing on friday at Texoma. He also had 0 along with my dad. One of the other guys had 2 and another had 1. That will be my 2nd drop so I can't mess up the rest of the year. I just can't concentrate on fishing right now with my Kansas trip starting Wednesday. I hope to be more prepared for the next one. Here are 4 of the other members fish. Not sure why they are only holding 4 of the 5 fish up. They weighed in a before we arrived at the ramp. Bill & Greg's contribution to the Gold...

Thanks everyone... I plan on spending more time on Lavon. TPWD has stocked a lot of largemouth in there over the last couple of years and it seems to be paying off. With the cost of gas, I cannot afford to drive to much further... Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Quick update, looks like we are going to take 3rd place overall in the competition. Tektronics swept table tennis last night and increased their lead to 20 points and there is only one event left -- basketball. Fossil is in 4th and they are 20 points behind us. The max points a team can get per event is 10 points so it is basically sealed that we will get 3rd overall -- Bronze. Not too bad for our first time in the Corporate Challenge...
