Anyone want to meet up at a lake and do some fishing this weekend? I will probably have my youngest daughter with me but she is a trooper and will fish for anything. Initailly, I was thinking about an evening trip to Lake Fork and then as it got dark go to the bridge and tie up for some crappie.

Could also do a trip to Tawakoni and bass fish and then catfish. Unless someone knows where to find the stripers or sandies.

Could also make a run over to Bridgeport and fish for bass up in the river then sandbass fish when it got dark.

I am open to suggestions. Could just do a bass trip to Bonham and flip bitsy bugs into the reeds all day.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

We are close to Tawakoni and Cooper. We're also close to Fork, but we never bass fish. Could do some Crappie or Sandies/Stripers. Keith is off this weekend, so it sounds like a blast. Let me know!

You always have an excuse Charles... Here I take you out and put you on a 9 pounder and this is the thanks I get... Geesh... Some guys...

Have fun at the lease guys...

Audra, what lake are we going to catch crappie on? Cooper or Tawakoni or Fork? Ya'll want to meet at the Rainswood ramp on Saturday evening and do some crappie fishing into the night? I will get out there early and do some bass fishing before the sun goes down then either meet you at the ramp or just meet you under the 514 bridge in Birch Creek. We get enough lights in the water and the fish are bound to come... If you have a spot you like better, I am always game for that also. I used to catch a bunch of catfish at night in the summer on Tawakoni at the island North of 2 mile bridge. Or would ya'll prefer to chase sandies or stripers? I just want to get my boat on the water and get my line stretched.

Dropping a minnow straight down works for me, too! :-) I'm sure we could. Let me check. My stepdad and mom live on Fork, so I can see if/where they are biting. I know the river at Cooper is excellent for Crappie at certain times of the year. Let me check out a few things, and I'll report back to you!

Mike, I just talked to my stepdad, and he said the crappie are biting on Fork. He said to just let him know, and he'll show us all the honey holes. What day are you wanting to come up? Anybody else want to join in the fun?

Sounds super to me. I can bass fish on any lake for a few hours before we start drowning minnows.

Anyone else want to help us light up the lake?

We can do Saturday evening. We would honestly rather fish for sandies and stripers, just because we do that more often, but crappie on Fork is fine, too...that's more convenient for a babysitter. Let me know what you decide. I'll check some reports and see about the sand bass, they are the most fun if they're bitin'!

Seriously, you tell me where we need to go to catch some fish. Tawakoni is closer and so is Cooper to my house.

When you start talking about sandies and stripers, other than the spawn you are talking greek to me. I know how to catch the schooling sandies at the power plant, the sandies runnin up the creek during the spawn, and I know virtually nothing about striper fishing other than the spring they can be caught below the dam at Texoma. I have lucked into a few on Texoma while trolling but other than that I am not real familiar with summer methods for either of the species. If you think we will catch fish then I am all for it.

If we go to Tawakoni, I will pitch boat docks for a few hours and try to catch some bass. If we do cooper then I will pitch some jigs in the treetops or something.

I just want to run my boat, catch some fish that I can bring home to eat, and for my daughter to have a good time (I will bring her sleeping bag and coloring book just in case though )

Lead on my lady...

I will be getting an 04-05 later this week, Did not get a 03-04, was waiting to become a "resident" again. That sucks, living in Texas for 29 years and then leaving for a few and having to buy a non-resident lisc. i will be "fully equiped" and ready to go for hunting and fishing with the coming of the new license year. Will look at getting a lifetime combo if I can swing the $$ in the next year or so. Got a Lifetime KS hunting license before I left KS, smartest thing I have done in a LONG time.

If you guys still have room by Friday I may get a temorary and join you. I don;t have much in the way of tackle with me, most if it is in Ohio in storage. I am trying to line up some labor to help clear some brush and do some fence work at my new house on Sunday and might have to be around on Saturday to rent a post hole digger if "Jose" can come out on Sunday. We will see what works out. I would really like to do some fishing.

Saturday works for me, We can get out early or mid day or whatever works for ya'll. If ya'll know how to catch them, I want to learn...

I can probably do Friday night, but I can't leave work until after 5 and that would put me at the lake after 7 or so with going home to get my daughter and hook up and all.

Ya'll tell me when and where and I will be there. If I need any special tackle, let me know so I can go get it.

Greg, I bet we can make room for you if you can join us. I should have room in my boat.

Let's shoot for Saturday during the day, then. I will still check some fishing reports. It seems like Cooper or Tawakoni will be closer for most. Greg, Cooper would be the furthest for you, I think. I see what's biting and where, and get back to you guys. Cotton, are you and Cat in for Sat. morning/day? We can go on Fri, too. Mike, we'll plan on Sat. for you and hopefully Greg. Cotton, just let me know.

All the reports I've found say everything is "fair" at Tawakoni, and no report available for Cooper. We almost always do better at Tawakoni. When Keith gets home from work, he can call some of the little stores on the lake and get a report. But, from what I've seen, looks like Tawakoni may be our best bet. We fish it a lot, so Keith knows all the good spots. We mainly use slabs and rattle traps, depending on where the fish seem to be on the graph. We also have down riggers for stripers, so we might try that, too. Who knows what will work. I thought I heard that rain was in the forcast for Thurs-Saturday...any report on that?

Greg, look forward to seeing you there. When Keith finds out where the fish are biting best, we'll discuss where to meet and launch.

I will probalby need to borrow some terminal tackle and/or give me a laundry list of what I will likely need and I can run to Wally world.

I have a couple Shimano Chronarch SF's (12 lb test ande) on 6.5" rods I use for specks and reds also have an ultrlite (4 lb) spin caster. I assume these will work for any target fish we would be after?

We probably have enough slabs for you guys to borrow. We have a friend that makes them. You probably won't find slabs at Wal-Mart. You can get a wide assortment at Holiday Marina if we launch there, though. :-) I'm pretty sure I use a 3/4 ounce lead slab. It's pretty small since the sandies are not too big...contrary to what they believe when they are on your line :-). I prefer white with a grey belly/back. If that doesn't work, I try chartreuse (sp). One of those will usually work. Greg, with your ultra light, you'll feel like you've hung a whale when you catch a sand bass. They like a good fight. I'm sure we have one you can use if you don't have exactly what you need. We have so much fishing equipment, it's ridiculous! I'll get Keith to post some more info. If you have any more questions, let me know!
