"Fishing is alot like sex: Even when it's bad it's still pretty good!"

It doesn't matter if we catch fish or not, just being outdoors and with friends is what's important... (That and me showing you boys how to catch some fish! :-))

That's one way to get your post count up...

Makes no difference to me, the graph only shows hits and page loads, not who did it... I will be using the stats to convince businesses to advertise on the site. My goal is to cover the expenses ~$600 a year total not including my time.

BTW Greg, I too used to walk the Yewah<sp?> Creek in the spring and haul out a 25 fish limit. Those were some good times. There is not a great place like that up here. The Trinity above Livingston has some feeder creeks that are pretty good for the white bass but you have to get access to them. I have caught some sandies in the creek above Tawakoni but it is hard walking and a lot of people.

Keith called over to Tawakoni last night, and they said a guide had gone out and came back with their limit of 75 sandies and 10 hybrids. Keith found out where he went, and what they used to catch them. He'll fill me in on all the details around 9:00 this morning. Then we can decide where to launch, and you guys will have a better idea of what sort of tackle you need. Sound good?

Dadgumit!!!!! As much as I would love to go fishing,,, I may have to back out. I will know tomorrow but it appears that "Jose" will now be available Saturday but possibly not Sunday. I MUST get stuff done around the new house (fence for the dog, etc) before I can get settled in and be ready before hunting season. I will know more tomorrow,,,,,,,

Keep us posted Greg on your status. Audra, I will be there possibly without my daughter -- long redicilious story.

Greg,
I talked to Shane and he will be giving reports later in the year as guide business picks back up.

He may not know about the discussion board though. When we talked I had not published about the board. I'll shoot him another email shortly.

Let us know, Greg. Keith got some more info, and it seems the hybrids and sandies are good on Tawakoni early in the morning, but not so good in the evening. So, you guys that are driving so far, you can decide. We can still go to Fork, or we can try Tawakoni (early or late)...makes no difference to us. Mike, Cotton, what do you say?

I say lets catch some fish... I am planning on being at the lake at first light either way. If we are not chasing hybrids & sandies I will be chasing bucketmouths until ya'll get there(I would rather fish for hybrids with ya'll though). The morning is fine for me so that maybe I can get home at a reasonable mid-day hour and get some things done around the house. Just tell me what I need to buy and where to meet. I only know 3 boat ramps on Tawakoni -- Caddo and both at 2 mile bridge. Let me know where to meet.

Audra, a big thank you to you and Keith for doing all this legwork... Thanks

OK, Tawakoni at first light on Saturday! I will let Keith tell you where to meet for launch. We usually launch at Holiday Marina (I think). You'll need sassy shads for the hybrids/stripers, and slabs for the sand bass. Keith will be off around 4:00, and I have him register first, then post some more info. I've loved getting all this together. I know we'll have a great time.

Cotton, where are you guys? Are you in?

Greg, tell ol' Jose to load up and go with us! We'd love for you to join us!! :-)

Mike, is it still just you in your boat?

Growing up in Caddo Mills, Tawakoni was my "home lake" (plus it was the closest place to buy beer :-O)!!

Won several tournaments on that lake, and I still think it's probably my favorite lake to bass fish. It's VERY underrated, if you ask me.

I've got some old Tawakoni pics around here somewhere, including one on my desk, but my scanner's busted. I gotta get that fixed....

Cotton and Cat come as a pair. They can either go with us, or if they take their own boat, we'll have room for 2. However is fine with me. Cat and I just may need to be in the same boat so we can "girl talk!" :-)

Alright, my plans might have changed. I don't think I'm going to the ranch. Wouldn't be able to get anything done but work up a massive hang over and frankly I'm just too old for that(recovery time be a week)!

So, I think I might come play with ya'll (if that o.k). If I go, I'll have room in my boat.

I don'tknow a thing about Towakani (except for the beer stores off 276) so simple directions would be helpful.

Mike, all I have is bass tackle, so I'll either have to steal ya'll stuff or buy some at the lake.

We can bring the boat if we need the extra room that will not be a problem. What's the count?

PS Mike if it rains again I'm starting to think we aren't meant to be on the lake at the same time! LOL... I don't do lightning!

We almost always launch at Holiday Marina, which is on the SE side of the lake. They have a good launch ramp, most any lures and tackle you’d need and a place to clean fish. It is south of the dam on hwy 47. Cedar Cove Marina used to be a good place to launch, but I am not sure if it’s still open. There was a place called “The Bait Shop” on the west side of the 2 mile bridge on hwy 276 (right next to Tamarias restaurant) that has lures and stuff. Most of our fishing will probably be from Sun Point to the dam and around to Holiday Marina. We are going to be at Holiday at 6:00 Saturday morning. Anyone that can make it, meet us there. If you’re running late, we can hook up using our cell phones. Keith’s cell # 903-243-1453. Audra’s Cell # 903-348-1904. Give us a call with any questions or if you get lost! :-)

We just found the number for Cedar Cove, but we got an answering machine when we called. So, I guess they are still in business. That would be a more central location for everyone to meet. I will try to call them first thing in the morning, and determine if that would be better.

Remember what happened last time it rained and we planned to go to the lake... Charles caught a 9 pounder...

I can see it now, 4:30am cell calls checking the weather channel and trying to decide to go or stay...

Here is what I have

Keith & Audra
Cotton & Cat
Mike & Corey(daughter)
Rudey
Greg
Charles

If Charles can make it, probably no need to bring your boat. Else, I would think it would be a good idea.

From Tyler you're closer than I am!! Take you just a little over an hour from Tyler. Go down 69 to 276, left on 276. About 10 miles later, there's Tawakoni!

I figure one of the 2 Mile Bridge ramps would probably be the easiest places to meet up. Last time I was there, they had done a lot of good work on the east end ramp, good pier, etc. Just a suggestion.
