Well broke the godevil out Saturday morning for my first ride in the marsh since KatRita's passed thru to hopefully catch some fish and to rebuild our duck blilnd. Absolute mess in the marsh. Land masses moved, ditches plugged, mud clumps everywhere on top of who knows what under the water. All of the marsh and rozzo's is just saltwater burnt and flattened. The boat shed I used to use to leave the mudboat in on the duck lease has about 60 yds of marsh between it and the water now. There will be little to no big boat outboard running up in many of my old redfish spots for quite a while.

The good news. The trout are on fire. Easy limit caught. My Co-rider is my good friend and 1/2 duck blind partner Ed King. The trout were in any canal or cut that had tide moving thru it. All caught under corks and opening evening Tsunami's. Them trout love those Tsunami baits along with one freshwater catfish, about 4 big reds (all released), and a couple drum. And we got out duck blind built and netted. Back at the launch by 1:30 PM yesterday. I'm trying to figure out why I'm not back out there this morning.

Pretty fish -- Ugly fisherman... :-)

That has got to be one of the best looking redfish I have seen in a long time. Congrats on getting out there and making it happen. Sucks that everything has been so mucked with from the hurricanes but glad to see that there are still some fish to be caught and life will go on.

Great job Bigun...!
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

That's funny stuff there... :-)

Not that you are ugly Wade, just that specific fish is that much better looking than the usual redfish that it takes away from your natural beauty... It is all an optical delusion... :-)

How is the run-off from New Orleans going to affect the conditions arouind there? Are ya'll gonna to start glowing because of all of the seafood ya'll eat down there?

Dean, all that was pumped to Mississippi thru Lake Ponchartrain or down the Miss river out to 1200 ft of water and the River levees keep it from coming our way. Besides it is absolutely amazing how the marsh filters itself. I don't think I'd be eating any oysters (not like I eat them anyway) since they are one of the great filters. Our marsh is nice and clean. Fishing is absolutely unbelievable right now due to the storm pushing all this saltwater very far in along with all the fish.

Spent Sat and Sunday out at the camp on Lake Decade. Absolute maul drag on the speckle trout and reds. Made the usual mistake of putting camera in clothes bag and never breaking it out. Fishing is about as good as it gets right now. Easy fishing and burned about a gallong of gas in the go devils. Wish the beer prices would go and it would have been a trip cheap!
