For those of you who know the history of me and my Ranger you will enjoy this one.. Went to the bay today to land a few big flatties. Struggled to catch finger mullet - caught 2 dozen. Got the boat in the watter, headed down the channel a mile or so, sputter sputter sputter - came down off plane - heard an all too familiar sound from the engine - metal on metal..... Had to be towed back to the ramp. Left the boat with Lazer Marine at the GYB. He said there is water in the engine and the engine is seized.... Fortunately they are authorized Suzuki dealer/service center. Hopefully the motor is under warranty. I have only had it about a year and a half. I think Suzuki is 3 years. I am seriously beginning to think that I am just not meant to have a boat and partake in fishing.. At this point - I give up. All In A Days Fun!!!

Dean that does suck! I don't think it is a sign you aren't supposed to own a boat and partake in fishing I think it is just a sign you own the wrong boat. |

Dean that does suck! I agree with Jason on this one. Dump the Ranger sled and check out this boat http://www.basscat.com/baycat.htm I have one of their bass boats and have been impressed with the quality, performance and ride. Can't hurt to at least look, could it? |

So here is the latest - Suzuki said they will not warranty the motor because the boat is used for commercial purposes. They say this because when the boat was at Travis for nearly 3 weeks for the flywheel recall I called Suzuki customer service and told them that I take my HP customers fishing in it. When do they expect to have parts available? Coincidentally, there and then they found some stock of flywheels where they had none just 2 minutes before. Now the service Rep said the boat is registered as commercial. That is BS - It is not! I called Suzuki to plea my situation and they will not authorize any service center to start or evaluate the motor. I have to do that and once they find the problem they will decide whether or not to warrant it. Pretty Amazing...... For those of you who are not yet boat owners - I don't think it is worth it - reconsider.. I have about 100 hours on the motor and it is 17months old. 20 hr service done. 100 hr service done. Proper break in. What more could I have done? Now I receive another recal (3rd one) for the ECM Module they installed on the first recal - apparently the first one is not reliable and can cause severe injury or death as well... All In A Days Fun!!!

Unbelievable luck Dean. I had a Suzuki and you could not kill it except for the fact that it shucked prop shafts off about every 6 months! They replaced it everytime blaming something new everytime. It finally stopped after the 4th time and I sold it soon after and it is still running last I heard. Good luck. Quit being a mad, little bald man!

Dean, call them back and tell them that you or your boat are not for hire and you do not have a captain's license. Therefor, there is no way that your boat is used for commercial purposes. It is for entertainment only. It still floors me the amount of issues you have had with that boat. I have never in my life heard of so many issues with a single vessel... Sorry about all the troubles. Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

I guess if I plan to fish again I will have to find someone with a boat - Wade - who knows where and how - Wade - and doesnt mind taking a rookie out!! Meanwhile I'll just sit around and twiddle my thumbs - wondering if Suzuki will screw me or not. Once I get the boat back - working or not - it IS history - I can't handle this roller coaster ride. I really wish I had the money - I'd sue Ranger, Travis, and Suzuki... I cant find a lawyer that will take the case on contingency because of how the laws are written. There are no clear definitions regarding these type of marine "luxury" items. Buyer Beware! All In A Days Fun!!!

Dean, that is probably the only way I'll be able to get out of the house in the next month! I owe my wife big time right now! Bring it on. The speckle trout should be on fire but have not talked to anyone to get reports because I have been in Texas as much as La the last two weeks. Quit being a mad, little bald man!

All boat dealers are your best friend until you sign that dotted line. Then when you go in for warranty they act like they have never seen you before and make you feel like you "crapped in the punch bowl". All because you are going to report a problem with the so called problem free boat that they sold you. Then they get that "NOT COVER UNDER WARRANTY LOOK" and you can already tell that the lotion is coming out because they are going to stick it to you. Everyone that has had a new boat has run into this in one way or another. Sorry to hear about your luck I hope it works out in the end. If I had this problem I would do what ever it took to get out from under this boat. A lemon is a lemon. EVERYDAY IS A GOOD DAY TO FISH.

Out of fairness to Suzuki I need to say that they have decided to warrant the problem. I am still not clear what happened to the engine but it will have new power head and heads. I guess I'll have to break it in again - Thank God they are fixing it - it is an $8K repair! All In A Days Fun!!!

That is the good thing I've always heard about Suzuki. They take care of their customers. Don't know what to tell you Dean. Seems like someone put a vodoo on this boat or on you. Quit being a mad, little bald man!
