Well, I left my house at 1am this morning and headed to Nac to pick my buddy up. Left his place at 2:45am and headed to fork.
We arrived at Mosers resturant at 5:00 and ate breakfast. After we ate we ran into John Tanner. I had hired him when I was 15 for a night trip, so we talked for a few minutes. We then headed to the public ramp across from Axtons. We put in and ran into Birch went in the cove on the right before the grassy point at the bridge and fished topwaters around the big point. I had one decent fish and a smaller one blow up on my chugbug, but did not hook them. I then turned to my wacky senko and proceeded to catch a 6lber, bluecat that is. I thought I had a hoss when that sucker hit. Right after that my buddy caught a small bass and we headed to the cove with all the boat docks before the bridge on the left. We caught four or five in there with the biggest about 3.5lbs. From there we went past the powerlines to were the boat lane hits the point. We fished there until the rain hit at 10:00.
THIS IS THE GOOD PART
While idleing out to beat the rain I hit a stump that killed my motor and raised the back of my boat out of the water a goood foot and a half, with my nose touching the water at a 45 degree angle. The boat would not move and motor wouldnot crank due to the position of it. We were stranded for 45 minutes in pouring rain and a hellacious lightning storm. We layed in the bottom of the boat trying to decide whether to swimm to the houses near us for a tow boat or wait for help. I had a brilliant idea to raise the motor all the way up to see if it would crank. It did so I hit my hotfoot for gas and let the motor all the way down so the prop was barely in the water (it was that high out of the water) and put it in gear and gunned it.(I told him good thing we were not in a skeeter or we would have had a hole in the boat :-)) We came free and ran back to the truck. We went to tackle shopping and continued fishing at 1:00pm when the rain layed down. We were fishing in the coves between the 515 bridge and axtons on the axtons side when the second round of rain hit at 4:00. It was so bad I could not see the bank on the other side of the lake, lighting was everywere. We had to idle a good mile and a half to the bridge at axtons before I could plane out because it was raining too bad for me to find the unmarked lane that goes into the cove we were in. So soaking wet we load up and head home, stopping at crackerbarrel in tyler to eat supper. We caught probably 12 fish with the biggest about 3.5lbs and a 6lb catfish. All in all it was a good day.

That was a heck of an experience... Bilge pump working overtime today it sounds like. Gald ya'll made it out of there safe and still managed to catch a few fish. That catfish certianly got the blood flowing I bet...

It scares the heck out of me to be on the lake when the lightning starts, to be stranded out in the middle would have me very scared.

We were definatly thinking about you today, thanks for taking the time to update us after a day like that.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Sorry it couldn't have been a better trip for you. I know those stumps are everywhere on Fork. I had a friend that always used to say that if she ever wanted to commit suicide, she would go water skiing across Lake Fork! :-) Glad you made it out of the storm and home safely. Who knows what adventures are waiting in store when you head out for a day of fishing!
