Made my first trip out to the camp to make my first duck hunt this weekend. Never thought my wife would get home Friday night and after a dark ride out I made it to a snoring Ed King around 8:30 pm. After a good night sleep and a couple cups of coffe, we head out to the duck blind in the godevil. Ed had already gotten the decoys laid out on Friday afternoon and he did a tremendous job. It was slow flying early and I commented on the "man you missed some awesome hunting while you was in Ks". He just stated "they will come" which became the motto of the weekend. And come they did flight after flight. Wound up with two greenheads, two male widgeon, one female widgeon, and 7 gray's (gadwall). And let me tell you we screwed the pooch on a huge flock of widgeon and a flock of pintails just getting up to early. Well around noon I get the normal guilt call from my wife. I tell her to bring Ellyse to the dock and I'll pick her up. I did and what an angel she was. We had a blast just hanging out on the dock and visiting with the neighbors. She woke up at 4:30 am ready to go. We get to the blind expecting 30 mph winds per the weatherman. Man, were they wrong! No wind and hot. What does this mean? My worst fear for anyone on the first trip: GNATS. I looked at Ed and stated that this would be a short trip and he just nodded. Ellyse never whined or mentioned them once and let me tell you I was whining about them. She loved watching all the birds flying around and keep mimicking the nutria yelling "mammmaaaa". She even asked mimicking the duck's wing wondering why do the ducks rock their wings coming in. She had an absolute blast and was a real trooper in conditions I've had grown men not handle well. The ducks did not fly nearly as well as Saturday but we still wound up with our limit having 4 blue wing teal, 1 male widgeon, and 7 gray ducks. Forgot to take picture of them though. A few pictures of the scenery:

Excellent recap Wade, I showed the pics to Connie and the kids and they enjoyed them as well. You are a awesome dad to include her in your fun and she is a heck of a trooper to get up that early and deal with the conditions. Great job!!! Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish
