It has been almost a year since we did the first FTN striper trip to Texoma. Although the wind picked up on Saturday and there was only 1 fish caught, I had a great time and the fishing on Friday was great.

Who is up for another run to Texoma? I know that I cannot do it until the last weekend in January or maybe the first weekend in February.

Let's kick around some ideas and see if we can make another run out to the big water and haul in some line sides...

I will be watching this one to see what happens. I might be a late entry if that's ok. No boat, but willing to kick in for fuel if that's alright also.

I know there is a conflict with at least one member on the first weekend in February because he will be turning a year older (although I would think it would be a great way to spend a birthday). I probably should not do it the last weekend in January because of the youth weekend hunting trip.

How about February 11th we make it a FTN Day at the Lake -- Texoma style...?

Yea, I should have more time this year as well by not having to work. I may be up there this Saturday checking on some largemouth/smallmouth action. I got into some spots in the last club tournament and have been wanting to go back.

We've been crappie fishing some down by willis bridge north of whitesboro. The shad are so thick in the marina down there you can't even reel your jig up without snagging them.

With this weather being so warm the shad population probably won't take much of a hit this winter. Fish should be good and healthy come next spring.

By the way we need to plan that Monticello trip sometime this year.

With the warm weather, Monticello has not been very good. They are catching a few fish, but more fish are being caught at Fork.

I am considering Purtis Creek as my first bass fishing trip of the year.

You are correct sir, Feb 11th and Lowe's is as good a place as any to put in at. Much closer to my house than Willis Bridge public ramp. I'll break even on gas cost to go 377 by paying the $5 launch fee at Lowes.

Heck, if the stripers are not cooperating, we can always try some bass fishing -- or just beer drinking. :-)

If we make it we will launch out of Soldier Creek. Saves us almost an hour of drive time. I hope the stripers will be biting, I would like to see a plum picker in action. I have read about them but have yet to see one in action.

You say potato,....Yeah it must be Prune Picker. I figured they were slabs but I couldn't find a pic of them on the web. They got rave reviews from SOG's. Regardless of what the stripers are doing, I would like to get into some smallies. Will you guys fish both sat. and sunday?

Dru, go to SixOldGeezers.com. Ron will sell them off the site or there are several stores around Texoma that sell them.

As far as baits, I will be swimming sassys that trip.

As far as fishing both days, it all depends on how many outa towners we get. Last year we hung around the house on Sunday so they could get on the road fairly early. I would guess that if the weather holds and the fishing is good, we might could be talked into a morning trip on that Sunday. It was too darn cold and nasty to consider it last year.

Rob, I have a place for you to sleep. Looking forward to seeing you again buddy.

Just trying to keep up with you Wade. I think we are tied now. I ended up with 6 does and 1 buck for the year. Hope to stick another doe or two on this hunt in bandera next month though. I still need some for my freezer, I have given all the others away. Shot 2 more hogs Saturday afternoon in Leakey, stopped in Seguin and gave them to John on the way back to Austin.
