The problem with the 2 mile bridge ramps is there isn't anywhere to clean fish. They are also 4 to 7 miles (by boat) from the area we will be fishing. Do you want to keep some to eat?
If Cedar Cove is open, (about 3.6 miles east of the 2 mile bridge) they used to have a place to clean the fish, bath rooms and a place to launch. They did charge $2 to use their ramp and cleaning area, but it's worth it to me. They have a store there to get snacks, ice and some lures, too.

All the above was accurate several years ago, before the owners passed away. Someone else must be running it now.

Keith, I don't know about the rest of the people, but I don't plan on keeping any fish.

Here are 3 maps. The first one is way to far out to tell details, but I have marked the 2 mile bridge, Cedar Cove Landing and Holiday Marina. You can see a couple of my waypoints from previous fishing trips.

Keith, I plan on keeping sandies & hybrids but I generally clean my fish at the house where I have everything I need -- electric knife, regular fillet knife, bags, etc... Also, it is fun to show off the catch to the family. I will have a chest in the truck to put anything I keep on ice. Or I will just throw it in with Rudey's beer... I may just throw my cleaning stuff in the truck and take care of it at the lake. Would be nice not to have the mess at the house. But, if no facility is available then I will clean them at the house.

4 - 6 miles from the bridge you say... at 60MPH I can be there in 4 - 6 minutes from the launch... You tell me where to put in and if it is a 20 minute longer haul then so be it... I'll just have to get up a little earlier but that isn't much of a problem becuase I am pretty excited about this trip.

It looks like I should make sure to have a full tank of gas also huh... Ya'll bringing any motorola radios? I will have mine in the boat set to 5 0.

Rudey, you are also welcome to ride with me, you know where my house is. But, you would have to go North from your house I believe. I can be to the top side of Tawakoni in less than an hour. It will take a little longer to get to Holiday Marina though. I am thinking an hour & 1/2 to Holiday if I go to Point on 69 then cut over on 47 below the dam. Another option is you are welcome to crash at my place on Friday night Rudey. Everyone who has slept on the sleeper says it is the most comfortable one they have ever slept on.

I don't mind driving and meeting up. But coming from the west like we will be, it sure would be easier to hit the 2 mile bridge ramp. Holiday Marina is another haul from there, going around the lake!! And with Greg coming from Tyler, it'd be easier to tell him how to get to 2 Mile than other places.

Just my .02. I'll meet up anywhere.... I'm easy, just ask my wife.:-O

Cedar Cove looks easy also. I think it will take just over an hour to get there from my house.

Rudey, you can bring one of your girls if you want to. Corey is 6 and will fish some but probably color and mess around the rest of the time. If there are fish in the live well she will play with them also. I have life jackets and an extra kid fishing pole.

What if we are getting rain at 5AM Saturday? Are we going or not? If need be, we call call each other on our cell phones if it looks like it will be raining and decide to go or not. I've got Cotton's and Rudey's cell numbers, but that's all.

We also have Charles' cell phone #, but what about you Greg? Cedar Cove is open, so we will be there at 6AM. I think it's only about 3 miles further for you Dallas people, but if you decide to launch at 2 mile bridge instead, I guess we'll catch up with you sometime.

Mike, we always keep a dry box of fish-cleaning stuff in the boat. We are prepared! Just let us know for sure if we are keeping fish. If we catch a bunch and clean them, you know what that means...BIG FISH FRY!!!! :-)

Look forward to seeing you all!

My Cell is 903-570-1401. What Lures do I need and where can I get them? All I have here in Tyler is Wally World (that I know of) I have plenty of salt water tackle (salt water assasins, johnson sprites, top dogs, corkies, spot removers, DOA shrimp, etc) but practiacally no bass, crappie, etc stuff. When we know for sure where we are meeting to launch I will need some general directions.

Just curious, not that it really matters, but will all this rain screw things up for the fishing?

Fish HATE the rain!! But it makes them easy to find. They all hide under the boat docks so they don't get wet.

I will be there come rain or shine. If we are not chasing sandies & hybrids, I will head to the boat docs and bass fish. I am determined to have my boat on the lake Saturday morning... As long as there is no lightning...

I am always up for a big fish fry... I love to cook for large groups and I have a fryer.

I don't mind rain...I don't do lighting.

Greg, for the sandies/hybrids, any number of baits will work. Little George, slabs, Rattle Traps, grubs on lead heads, topwaters when they're surfacing, etc, etc...

Any of yall use what we used to call a sandbass rig? Tiny torpedo(clear) with a white crappie jig tied about 14 inches behind it, and another 14 inche behind that. We used to fish'em on ultra lights for schooling sandies at PK, and Ray Bob. Catch them suckers 2 or 3 at a time, man that was fun!

I have done that, Dale! Have also done the same thing using Rattle Traps and other cranks. When one fish hits, just hold him instead of instantly reeling him in. As he thrashes, he's "working" the other lures. Usually get another one on in a matter of a few seconds!!

If you don't know how to get to Cedar Cove, it is at the end of County Road 1502 on the south side of 276. It's east of the 2 Mile Bridge.

Greg, for you, coming down 69 from Tyler you will be turning left onto 276 in Emory. CR 1502 will be about 8-10 miles down 276 on your left.
