The Briminator and I went to Fork this weekend and found a few nice fish but I forgot my camera so I don't have pics. Saturday we waited out the rain and went Crappie fishing in the fog but they we not biting so we went Bass fishing. We fished the coves by the golf course towards the 515 bridge. We started half way back with traps and spinner baits. I hooked up with a big fish right away fishing the timber in the creek channel in 12ft. That fish wrapped me up in timber and broke off. about 50 away yards towards the back of the creek the Briminator hooked another large fish on a trap and it too broke off near the boat. Two hits two lost fish... We left that place and went to Indian Creek. I started pitching jigs at the big trees again in 12ft. I hooked up with a 23" 6lbs plus fish it was a long skinny fish not typical of Fork. As we worked back in the creek a nice 2.5lbs bass attacked my spinnerbait right at the boat which we both saw hit, now that was fun!!
We worked back out around the mouth in 12ft fishing with the jig and popped a 21" 7.4lbs around another big tree. This fish was a true Lake Fork lunker she was as round as long. Sunday we moved arounds looking at some new water and only landed two fish both on traps. We did talk to a gut that was fishing white oak with flukes along the grass edges in shallow water and laned 6 fish mostly males. The water temp was 51-52 in most places. I understand it droped from 55. I really think these fish were staging for the fast aprouching spawn that is as long as the temps stay up there like the have been. Take a look at Media Bass at Palestine on Saturday and you'll see what I mean. 23lbs 1st place...

Thanks for the report Oz, I seriously considered hooking up and heading to the lake this weekend. Sounds like ya'll had a great time and any day you can boat a 7+ is a good day in my book... :-)

One question... Why did you leave the spot you broke 2 good fish off? Were those the only bites in that cove?

I think Wes and I are headed out soon to see if we can get our lines stretched. The bug is eating away at me pretty badly right now... :-)
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Mike,
We left because we really were just doing some seaching for some new spots to fish this year. We worked around that area for a little while but never got bite again. We kinda worked it fast. If we would have slowed down I'm sure the fish would have worked with us. I'll be down again next weekend so stop by or call when you head out. Looks like the weather will be warm all weeks so the fishing will only get better!!
