I just got a call from my Dad telling me that my Younger brother Matt just one an FLW tournament on Amistead. He has been fishing professional tournaments since college. While in college he was 2nd on the Redman tour in his region. A couple of years ago he won a boat in a team tournament on Amistead. He has consistintly placed in the top 10 in most tournaments he fishes in, but today he proved how good of a fisherman he really is. He placed 1st in the FLW Texas Tournament Trail tournament on Amistead this weekend. What makes this win outstanding is the fact that he signed up as a non-boater. What that means is he is paired up with someone who has a boat and he gets to fish off their back deck. He has no control over the troll motor or the water's that are fished. He ended up in 9th place on Saturday after the 1st weigh-in of the weekend. On Sunday, they only let the top 20 places continue on in the tournament. Well when today was all said and done he ended up in 1st place. Not sure how many total pounds he had, but he ended up winning a total of $44,000 in cash and prizes. (A $40,000 19' Ranger with 200hp Merc and $4,000 cash). I do know where someone can get a boat that has never been in the water for a good deal. He will be selling the new boat. He already owns one just like it. Here is a link to the results. Todays results will be posted later this evening. http://ttt.flwoutdoors.com/tournament.cfm?cid=6&t=results CONGRATS MATT Vegatarian: Indian Word for Bad Fisherman

Congrats Matt, that is awesome... Will, talk him into coming over and giving us the story. I interviewed the BassChamps winners on Amistad and would love to know if a similar pattern was used to pay off. It sounds like Matt is a great fisherman well on his way to making a name for himself. That is great news to read... Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

The 1st boat he won was through BassChamps in a team tournament on Amistead. I will try and get him to stop by and post his story. Vegatarian: Indian Word for Bad Fisherman

Congrats, Matt.. Winning from the front of the boat is hard. Winning out of the back of the boat is unbelievable. Great job. BassZone.com

Congrats! Why does the FLW Texas Tournament Trail fish 4 months in a row (February, March, April, May) then nothing until the championship 6 months later in November? Anyone know? Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught.

I know in Oklahoma, the Wildlife dept. discourages tournaments in the summer months. We had a couple of large fish kills following a big tournament. Not sure if this is the reason or if it's just way the schedule fits best. BassZone.com

Schedule conflicts would be my guess or past attendance history. Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish
