Anyone fishing Spectra fishing lines on you're baitcasters?

I haven't tried it yet but I've heard a lot of pro's and con's leaning on the pro side more.

I fished with a guy that swore by it until he broke off a couple of fish in a tournament. Hard to tell if he would have broke off with a different line or not. I'm still a big fan of Big Game myself. Kinda like "if it ain't broke don't fix it dummy" mentality.

Charles do you remember what line he used?

I'm the same with mono lines myself. I can play with stretch and use it to my advantage at times.

Spectra on big reels is another world though. You literally know exactly what a fish is doing out 300 yards or more. On mono in the 50 - 80lb test class, there is so much stretch in the line you lose a lot of feel.

I'm more worried about castability with Spectra on lighter tackle as well as a slower tapered blank to absorb shock.

I'm trying out Suffix line this year. Low memory and great castability. I have heard good things about Gamma and Seagar but they are pricy. The fluorocarbon lines are good with clear water. There is little line stretch.

Too much thinkin and not enough fishin... Put some line on there and go fishin Rob... :-)

I tried different lines last year and ended up loosing so darn many fish I felt like Wes. So, I went back to Big Game and now my problem is just getting bit... :-) I am considering a Floro for some crankbait fishing but will probably just stick to my 15 - 25 pound big game.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Never tried it. I'm a 12 lb Triplefish mono fan myself for what I do. I think big game is hard to beat for bass fishing stumps and logs. I tried that Pro line one time on a trip to Fork and it literally attached itself to logs and sawed into it. Never had so many hangups in my life. Did not take long to quit using that up there.

Every reel of mine except the spinning gear has Big Game on it. I've tried others, but just keep coming back.
Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught.

I started using G.Pucci P-Line X-Stra Strong clear last year (10 & 12lb). So far it's been a pretty darn good line. It recovers and casts well without breaking down on long use.
