We hunted the hbarh ranch this weekend. www.hbarhranch.com Saturday morning I had this guy come into the feeder. 12-15 yard shot, he ran about 70 yards and crashed. This is the 2nd time I have hunted this ranch. Had a blast both times. Heidi and Joel run a great ranch and really take care of you while you are there. They cater to bowhunters, with traditional shooters being the bulk of their business. The axis ended up scoring 139 1/8 and will make gold. Main beam length is 33.2 and 32.7, live weight is 215#

Beautiful animal Wes. Pisses me off I did not make the drive to see it now. If I remember right, this one would be bigger than the one PQ shot would it not be??? :-)LMAO

I saw a couple like that at Carta Valley. Problem was they were 300 yards away. Congrats on the nice axis.

Picou shot a good one at Carta and also missed a good one on another trip. I saw a few decent axis there and one monster. Couldn't get a shot at it though.

Nice fish Wes... Sorry, I mean deer. Big fish for you is a sore subject... hehehehehe

Where's all the rest of the horns?? It's just got two big one? Maybe you can cut some off and tape them up to look like a great big fawn...
Sorry I've lost my mind :-)

The first time I hunted CVW I had about 15 axis does walk single file past me at 10 yards. I kept waiting for something with horns to show but nothing. The two big ones I saw was on a later trip. They were both in velvet as well.

By the way I chased my share of Texas Dalls while I was there too. I wouldn't shoot a corsican though. Just didn't seem like a challenge.

Nothing is coming to mind, but I'm guessing it's a good story.

The first time I was at CVW my brother and I were driving around and I saw what looked like a normal backyard goat grazing next to a pen. We didn't know if it was an exotic or a pet. After studying it from our truck at 20 yards we decided to let it walk.

Key word -- OUT... The goat was out of the pen... I shot that goat (sheep actually) about 50 yards to the left of that pen.

LMAO...

When we drove up (JoJo and I) the sheep were drinking water at that tank. They left the pen and I got out of the truck with my bow. I shot the biggest one as they started heading into the brush.

I'll admit, they were not the most skittish animals I have ever encountered but they did not just stand there and wait for the arrow. They just did not take off like deer do. Either way, there was very little challenge to shooting one.

Wes will tell you, I'm a "bird in the hand" kinda person... :-)
