Ok, ok... I know ya'll had high expectations of us taking home the new boat but Oz and I talked about it before the start and decided that it would not be a good idea if we took the first event. We are pacing ourselves and will try to keep it down to only winning 3 boats this year. As everyone knows, the wind was something serious this weekend and I am convinced that God had a hand in getting Oz's boat fixed in time for us to take it to Cedar Creek. As bad as it was, I can not imagine being out there in a 18.5 foot boat. Well, BassChamps made a decision to allow trailering for this event due to the water levels and the winds so the Log Cabin ramp was not as crowded as it could have been but it was still full of boats. The rule was that you could launch where ever, but had to stay within 100 yards of the ramp and could not head out until 7:00am and fishing had to end at 3:00pm. The weigh-in line was to close at 4:30pm. It's 7:00am Oz and I hit one of his favorite docks but could not produce a fish. With the frozen fingers, I am not convinced that we just could not feel the bite... We rode to another spot and then made a decision to move again. It was absolutely brutal and there was virtually no place to get out of the wind. It was white capping all over the lake, even in some of the smallest "protected coves". It was rediculiously windy... Something happened to the trolling motor batteries and they began to loose strength around 1:00 so we tried to stay in the calmest water we could find but calm was only a relative term. Even if the water was fairly flat, the wind still pushed the boat around like a paper cup. Oz, who hates to carolina rig, broke out the CR and ended up boating the only fish we caught. The entertainment value was high and dispite the outcome, I still had a great time fishing with Oz. He dropped me off at the ramp and I waited in line to pull him out. Once we were loaded, Oz had to leave so I hung around to perform my interviews and met a lot of great people in the process. Here are a few random pictures of the stage area.

Great coverage of the event Mike. Love the optimism of winning only three boats. Oz, I know you did the best you could with what you had in the back of the boat! Good luck on the rest of the events. Quit being a mad, little bald man!

Excellent report PQ. Ya'll didn't get the big goose egg either....maybe a little itty bitty goose egg but not the regular size. I'm sure there were few out there that didn't catch squat? Did you find out what the winning stringer did to win? |

Zero's sometimes happen, you just move on and get ready for the next event. We did enjoy fishing too bad the fish didn't work with us. There were plenty of Zeros so we can catch up on points at the next tournament. OzzieFish "In GOD I trust"

Excellent work PQ! Gathering this information has to be pretty tough? Are you running around with pen/paper to keep notes on the tournament details? |

Mike, look into one of these. The recorder has 45 minutes worth of memory and the phone attachment works great for interviews over the phone. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2117970&cp=2032060.2032336&allCount=25&fbn=Price%2F%2410.00+-+%2449.99&fbc=1&fr=StorePrice%2FRSK%2F00001000%2F00004999&parentPage=family http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103876&cp=&kw=phone+recorder&parentPage=search BassZone.com

Nice job on the article Mike. I'll have to catch your picture on the next tournament results. By the way do you qualify for the Skeeter bonus if you win? If you're richer than me I think we're related. If you're poorer than me I know we're related. My bass club webpage http://texbass.8m.com/

No bonus money for us. Boat has to be 3 yrs old or less. After we win a boat though, we will be able to get the bonus... Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish
