I was just going over the highlights of the classic. Ike showing his true self! he he But then I saw an article that stated that Shuffield, Cochran and Nixon are leaving the Bassmaster series and moving to FLW. I'm sure there are lots of reasons. IKE!, $5,000 entry fees. I think Bassmasters is shooting thereself in the foot trying to be all glamorous. I like these fellas, will watch more of FLW from now on. What do you guys think? |

I don't keep up with this stuff much. During the first Bassmasters classic in N ORLEANS that KVD won (6-7 yrs ago I would think if not more), I was talking to some local guys who fish a lot of the bass tourney, prefish for some of the guys, and who were riding in the back of the boat and they were telling me that Bassmasters has been pushing the old guard out and wanting the younger fishing members. This was all the talk back then. They were pushing sponsors to KVD, Swindle, Reese, future Ike's and away from the old guard. They want the rag to riches stories. Based on this, sounds like they may have knew what they are talking about? I never knew there was so much drama and fighting among the fishermen and clubs until I started watching that ESPN show. I guess money corrupts! Quit being a mad, little bald man!

Hey Robert, I don't know if it was my article or another one that you read but it is true. Nixon is leaving because he can't fish that many tournaments and with BASS it's all or nothing. 7 of the anglers fishing the Classic will not fish with BASS again including Luke. Even as Champion he is not eligible to fish the '07 Classic. I just got back so I will post a total recap when I get a chance. The two days in the boat with Hackney and Swindle were great. The rest of the time was not so great. BassZone.com

That had to be a hoot. Hackney and Swindle. They both seem to be big talkers. A person could probably learn a lot and not make a single cast. |
