Well, Oz and I decided to meet up at Fork yesterday and see if we could catch Sharelunker #401. I got to Oz's place at 6:30am and he was cooking breakfast -- eggs, bacon, toast, and coffee. Breakfast was delicious and we headed out to the water around 7:30am launching at Fisherman's cove.

It did not take Oz long to stick the first fish -- a great 6.5 lb hoss on a jig

We fished that area a little longer and moved back into some protected water because the wind was kicking up pretty strong.

We were fishing a protected shoreline with boat docks and I picked up a nice little spinnerbait chunk

Well, shortly after I landed that fish my stomach started feeling like it was tied in a knot. I ended up giving the eggs to the lake around 10:30 and the rest of the day pretty much found me bundled up in the passenger seat fighting the chills, aches, and just all around sick feeling. I tried fishing more but my lower back hurt too much to stand up and my stomach felt like I would hurl again at any time.

We stayed on the lake for another 3 or so hours and Oz fished hard with nothing else caught. We pulled off the water around 2:00pm and I headed home for the longest drive I have ever made. When I got home I crawled into bed and did not get out till this morning.

I am feeling tons better, but still very weak and scared to eat or drink anything.

The good news is, I finally caught a fish out of Oz's boat... :-)

Thanks for everything Oz... Especially the breakfast...
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Congrats on catching a fish even after Oz tried to poison you. It's amazing he didn't get another bite with you chumming like that. Get better and get back on the water.

Nice fish OZ!

Man, did I do a job on Picou with the slightly tainted bacon & eggs ;) That poor boy was hanging off the back end of the boat "site fishing" like I've never seen before. I mean he nearly had his whole head under water looking for those bass. He would even upchuck a little so they would come eat what was falling and that way he could get a real close up... Dean Rojas has nothing on ole Picou!!
For a second there I thought he said “fish on” but it was just him placing his offering in Lake Fork... Man, now my stomach is starting to feel bad! All I can say is I’m glad he finally landed a fish too bad he lost weight doing it :-)
Anyone else wanna meeting me at Fork? I’ll have hot meal ready for you when you get there :-) :-) :-)
To think no beer was involved in this either?

Don't feel alone PQ! I got the same thing today except the chumming (feels like I could but have not eaten since breakfast yesterday). Barely slept last night at all.

Great trip none the less. Way to show him again how to catch the bigboy Oz!

that's funny!!!!

I still have no clue what it was that brought on the flu like symptoms but I am glad I am feeling better now. I still hope to make it out to the lake on Sunday to prefish Tawakoni.

Thanks for the support Charles... :-)

Nice fish Oz. Nice priceless story Mike. That fish looks a lot like the size we caught last year on that first trip. Glad to see you throwing a spinnerbait finally.
If you're richer than me I think we're related. If you're poorer than me I know we're related.

I was surprised to hear Mike's not spinnerbait fisherman. We'll have to change that this year!!

It really started when Bull Dog Lures went out of business. I have not found a spinnerbait that I like since then. The one I have been throwing the last couple years is the most acceptable solution. I use to really enjoy fishing spinnerbaits but I just cannot find a spinnerbait that I have much confidence in so therefore I do not like to fish them anymore. I fished with my favorite Bull Dog until the hook broke off one day removing it from a fish.

My favorite configuration was a single, oversized indiana blade -- hammered nickel. I still have a tackle box full of spinnerbait components.

couple of nice fish you guys caught there.

Oz, I thought there for a minute you were going to tell us Picou came up out of the water with a fish in his mouth saying "GoonieGooGoo".

Good to hear you are feeling better Picou.

Being ill on the water is not much fun.
That "motion of the ocean" only makes things worse.
Glad your're feeling better Mike.

And nice fish!
Give yourself an award. :-)

Will... I spit coffee this morning when I read that...

You got me searching the internet for a clip of the Eddie Murphy comedy Delirious. I remember watching that and then listening to it on cassette over and over again.

Ya'll are killin me... No better cure than to laugh that hard... Thanks for the love!!! :-)

good story fellas! Come to think of it, sounds real familiar. I think it starred Texfisher in the front of the boat and me in the back on a hot summer day. I feel your pain Picou!
