New to site, came over from TBH. Caught my biggest Largemouth down at Amistad this last weekend, she was on a bed with a buck bass. I caught her on a Pearl White BPS magnum flippin tube in 6 feet. Hand held says she weighed 8lbs 14ozs. Can't wipe the grin off my face! (Message edited by charles on March 7, 2006) |

It would have been nice if I could have stayed for more than a day and a half. Eighteen hours round trip was a killer but the big girl more than made it worth the ride. |

Did we see some pros! I was at the motel 6 with Browning, Hackney, Wolak, Guiterrez and a couple of others that I didn't recognize. The first day I had a blowout on the trailer and went to goodyear and Skeet Reese was there getting some tires as well. Talked to him for about a half hour, he was a pretty cool guy. We saw Ish Monroe and Rick Morris at the boat ramp as well. We were covered up in pros. |

Great job Rumbanator. It is going to be interesting to see what kind of weights come out of Amistad over the next couple of days. Were there a lot of fish still on beds? Anybody have any predictions on what it will take to win? Rojas record may fall. I think it will take 25-28 pounds a day over four days to win. Winning 4 day weight- 110+ BassZone.com

There were a good number of fish on beds when we left Sunday evening, but many did not seem to be totally locked on; with the full moon coming over the weekend I expect the number of beds to increase drastically. Nearly every place we went we could see a lot of BIG fish cruising around in 15-20 feet of water and some were up in 10 looking for a place to settle. We also found smaller fish schooled up in a few areas so the topwater bite will probably be on in the mornings. Wouldn't surprise me one bit to see the record fall; 115lbs+ to win. When we talked to Skeet Reese, he said he would be happy with 20lbs a day, he thought that would give him a top 10 finish. I guess he should know as well as anybody what they will need to make it to the last day. You guys may want to pick sight fishermen and west coast anglers for your fantasy fishing picks. |

I was so dissapointed in Toho with all the hype. This event on Amistad is going to be a record breaking event no doubt. I am expecting Rojas' record to be broken. Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Nice catch, thanks for sharing. I've been telling myself I need to schedule a trip to Amistad in the spring. Anybody interested in going this time next year? |

Nice fish Dave. Glad to see I gave good directions to the site. See Picou, I'm bringing new members. Now how about that boat sponsorship. By the way I got my boat back today. Look out fish. If you're richer than me I think we're related. If you're poorer than me I know we're related. My bass club webpage http://texbass.8m.com/

OK, I've got to go to Amistad. Talked to some of the guys lastnight and the bite is "off the hook." Reports of 100 fish a day in practice. Culling up to 30lb. limits. Also, they said the crowds were unbelievable. Only bad thing was the wind. It will keep some of the sight fishing down. Most of the guys that are one the realy good bite are targeting pre-spawn fish. Watch out this is going to be awesome. BassZone.com

31lbs 10ozs is leading the tourney with 10lb BB. There were only four 30lb+ stringers with 39 20lb+ stringers. The 40 mph winds hampered the action today. |

Dave, that's not bad at all. We've gone down to Ivie a couple of times and it may be time to head farther south. Did you have to cross the border to get your Mexico fishing license? What about protecting your boat and tackle at night? BassZone.com

We didn't want to deal with the headache of Mex. fishing. You need a seperate lic. and boat registration, the federales also like to patrol alot. If you have a CHL you don't want to be anywhere near the border. We simply unloaded the boat every nite of anything I was worried about walking and parked the boat close to the room. |
