Was a busy day for catching but not an unbelievable day for keeping. Caught a bunch of small trout having a hard time finding keeper trout today. Probably 10 to 1 for a while. Ended up catching about 25 nice trout in a bayou with the tide ripping in. Fished several other spots with the same results of lots of small trout so ended up deciding to go do some redfishing. Ended up catching ten reds to top the chest along with a couple misses also. Matt and Roxie from Shreveport had an excellent time I believe by the smiles on their faces.

I brought Roxanne and her daughter Alex this morning. They wanted to catch redfish today and we had seven in the boat within the first 100 yd stretch fished throwing brass spoons. Went try some larger bays and saw plenty of redfish but just could not make them bite so we decided to go catch some trout but the trout thought different. I mean absolute trout shut down early today. Nothing at four of my best holes. Well the wind picked up pretty good from earlier so I told the girls we were going to float this one cove we saw all the reds in that morning. Threw on a Mann's minus one crankbait and the rest was history. Those reds were going out of their way to get to that rattling crankbait. Was unbelievable and pissed I forgot my camera sitting right by my computer keyboard! Fifteen of the most beautiful orange reds were caught in a flash and the girls went home with a smile.

That sounds awesome Wade. I saw a fishing report for your area and it was referring to the tides. A single tide vs a double tide. Being a land lubber, what is best? Is there a site to go to that will forecast the tides? Which tides are better? Don't give away all your secrets,I'm just curious.

Absolutely great stuff Wade... That boy looks very happy with the catch and I am sure they had a great day in the boat with you.

Great job putting them on the fish.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

I'm not one to worry about tides much before I go fishing for the marsh other than when in the bay boat I look at the water heights once I get across the lake to determine whether I'm marsh fishing or bay fishing. I think the double tides would be better due to I find steady trickling tides are the best fish catching conditions for the marsh I fish. When you get one strong tide conditions, the fish become disoriented and lockjawed unless you can catch the swings in tides. That was the main problem this weekend. Strong 1.5 to 2' incoming tide all day long had the fish scattered everywhere. You could find the small trout anywhere there was current but the bigger trout were scattered out all over the flats. We caught several of them in the packs of redfish while redfishing but not concentrated anywhere. You can usually find the tide charts on any local web fishing site however you have to know the time difference between those spots and your area due to most of them are based out at the islands which are 8 miles out. About the only conditions I tell people to watch if scheduling a future trip is a full moon if you are fishing in the morning only. Usually a very early bite with little going on again until the afternoon.
