As I promised - here is the report. Pictures ase scarce beacuse fishing was slow..

We headed to the ramp around 6am Friday morning. I could not believe all of the trailers at the GYB parking lot. When we put in we had to park in overflow parking. We bought bait and ice and hit the water around 8am. We headed to west bay dodging boats both comiing and going - it was insane! Soooo many boats!! (Now I know why I like weekday fishing..) We wanted to fish the rr bridge at the causeway but almost every arch was taken almost the entire length of the Galveston side. We headed West and when we got to our area in west bay in Greens the boats were stacked up.. NEVER had I EVER seen so many people there.. We nestled through everyone's fishing area to an opening that we could fish from. We saw a few trout being landed and managed a few ourselves. As the current slowed the boats started to thin out. We migrated to the location where I cought the last batch and we cought a few more. I did manage one big trout at 24.5in.

Before and after this fish the bite was very slow as was the current. Eventually the current stopped and on came the hardheads. We moved to a few different locations but nada. Came back - re-positioned ourselves and got ready for night fishing. After the sun went down the moon startes rising -

By 10:00 we had some current and the lights were strong but there were no fish to be seen or had.

We decided to call it quits for Greens and go see what the rr bridge had to offer. Navigating Greens in the dark was intense but when we got to the intercoastal it got really hairy. There were a lot of barges - some were stopped and some were not. Their q-beams were blinding and made navigation impossible. We ended up on a mud shoreline and had to manage our way off. Fortunately we did not have to get out and push. By the time we got back to the rr bridge we were stressed and dissapointed. It seemed like no one went home!! We decided to bail and headed in. We fished by someone's green light by the GYB but nada. Called it quits and got home around 2am.

I meant to count our catch and take a picture before we cleaned them but Dan started cleaning fish while I was cleaning the boat this morning so - sorry...

I think we ended up with 16 or 18 trout and 1 flounder. I think the adventure was worth it even though the bite was off. Had a great time and Dan did too - except that I outfished him 3 to 1.. poor guy ..
All In A Days Fun!!!

Great write up Dean. Much the same around here with more boats than fish around. Man, were the people out this weekend!

Quality trout no doubt...

Sounds like a good trip Dean. One of these days I'll take a ride in the Ranger and let you show me how to catch those fish... :-)
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish
