Me and Chicken will be at his dad's house on G-bury all weekend and I thought we might try to catch a few catfish in between golf and bowfishing and drinking beer.

We'll have access to a few boats, but due to our beverage of choice, we'll probably just take advantage of the 200' of seawall and the boat docks on sight.

Any advice on bait? We've had luck catching perch under the docks so we may try that, but I'm open to suggestions.

Their water frontage is all rocks! Don't catfish spawn about now?

Thanks in advance.

All I can tell you and Chicken is good luck Cuz I know you guys will have a great time. Take some pixels SON!

While it does you no good, The catfish are spawning down here in S La. My brother-in-law went Saturday and caught around 35 nice cats up in the Spillway marsh on shad.

I'll be at the Capote Farm in Seguin this weekend myself guarding the ice chest on the front porch from the turkeys.

It may be a little early for the catfish to be spawning. But, everything is moving shallow so the cats should be close. With the rocky bottom and your, sure to be incapacitated state, I would suggest using a bobber and your choice of bait rigged 12 to 18 inches below it. No weight. From dusk till late in the night, the cats should move up to feed.

Good luck

With all those rocks, you should put on about 1 ounce of weight and a treble hook for the fishing. This should insure that nothing moves your line and you can focus on the important tasks of drinking...

Excellent bait choice would be cut shad floated under a cork as suggested above depending on the depth of the water out there. Catfish are up spawning in most of the lakes around here and they are ripe for the pickens. I really want to take the kids this weekend to catch some but that darn soccer stuff is getting in the way. :-)

Good luck Dale and let us know how it goes.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Dale is this the first bowfishing run? Don't forget pix man...PIX MAN! :-)

Fresh cut up perch as Redneck88 sez. Chum an area with a bunch of perch cut up and stuffed inside a nylon bag and sink it down on a float. Cast the cut bait near that and sip beer. After awhile you will get visitors :-)

Bad news, the bow fishin boat we were using on borrowed time has been SOLD! But that's ok, the provider of the toys will turn that into a bigger and better one before we know it.

Good news, dog food has been flying off the dock every night for the last week or so! Is it legal to shoot carp over bait?

I'll try to net some perch, I bet we can even dig up an old nylon corn sack from somewhere or another!:-) I think I'll dig up my ol 5500 with the bait clicker for some deep water/live perch soaks!

It ought to be a hoot, especially if the heat stays down. Lookin forward to a relaxin weekend, and thanks again!

another good idea for chum is go buy some cattle cubes and make sure their 20% protein, those usually work pretty good too.and if yall shoot some carp fillet them out and cut the fillets into cubes and throw them on the hook too that works just as good as perch most time.

Sounds like you guys had a fun weekend. Nothing wrong with a little golf and the scenery at the lake gets better the warmer it gets.
