I have a question for all you coastal fisherpersons. The wife and I are in the process of buying a retirement home on the Texas coast and are looking at Bay City with the intent to fish the Matagorda Bay area. Any information you might have will help our decision. Of course you are all welcome to come down to visit.

I have never fished Matagorda. I am not even sure I know where Bay City is... :-)

Why are you looking over in that area vs. West Beach Galveston?
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Thats simple..Price of property. We hope to get a bit-o-land with the house so I don't have to put up with neighbors too close. Did I mention I HATE living in Plano.

Been many years but I grew up in Freeport and fished Matagorda many times. Good Redfish and flounder pretty good trout as well. This was way back in the late 70's early 80's. Don't know about the housing,,,,
Love to fish and hunt.

Actually I have 4 lots on Tiki. They are prime lots because they are bulkheaded to a small bird sanctuary that opens up to Jones Bay. Your view will never be obstructed. I have 3 lots listed at 69K and one that I am holding for sale in this type of situation - eliminate the realtor fees.

If you are interested let me know and I will get you more information.

Dean, Thanks for the info, however I think we want to be a little farther away from the Houston mess. I'm looking for small town life with fishing close by.
