Man, overcast all day Sunday and it was great! We were spending some time in the backyard and I went in and got my baitcasting rod out, rigged with a weightless, texas rigged tube that had a frog head on it. I was more looking to practice casting for a while since I have always fished with spinning gear. I made a few casts and then threw it up along the and and kind of hopped it on top a little, pausing and letting it sink every once in a while. There's alot of bullfrogs in this little lake, and I was doing my best to make it look like a lost youngster. First cast, I barely made it 3 or 4 hops, and a nice bass crashed it. A coupel casts later, and I hooked a little smaller one. I started around 10:00 and by lunch time, I had switched to a chrome Zara Puppy, and had 6 fish, and had missed probably at least that many. It was great. I went back out early evening and fished till dark, and picked up another 4 or 5 fish with about the same amount of misses. I also had 3 fish in the morning come back and hit the lure 4 times. I managed to get one of them, but the other three just wouldn't take a big enough bite. Last night wasn't as good but I managed to hook into 2 nice fish, and missed I think 4. I just couldn't get into the rythm last night and set the hook when I saw the splash a few times or the fish missed it on the first pass, and from there I couldn't get the "walk the dog" motion started up again, but it was still fun. I doubt I will have time to fish much for the rest of the week, but I'm going to try! No pics on this one. Maybe Sunday I can sneak out with a buddy and we can get on them again and get a few pics. I pumped on what this place is going to be like in a couple years. I caught a really nice fish Sunday night. I didn't have anything to measure it with, but held him up to my leg and he was from the top of my ankle to the bottom of my knee. |

If I would have made it out to fish on Sunday you can bet I would have been tossing a topwater. Great day for it and I'm glad you made it out there to catch a few.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Nothing like the sound of a fish busting the surface when they hit a top water. My favorite kind of fishing. congrats. Vegatarian: Indian Word for Bad Fisherman
