That I hope ends soon! My charter today sucked again. Did not have a single fish in the live well until almost 10:30 am. West wind really kicked my butt speck fishing and I don't know what else to say. I have no clue what has happened to the reds in the marsh other than the water was LOW!!! Talked to a few of my other charter friends who caught fish that were brave enough to run out to the islands and wellheads but no big numbers. Here is to tomorrow that it is a better day. Going do the surf fishing thing at the island again tomorrow with my charters. Good luck to anyone else fishing this weekend.

Good Luck! Low water usually means you need to find the right deep pocket. I think the fish get full and don't feed like normal?

Dean, you probably have part of it. Around here really low tides will turn the water dirty and the fish will not turn on again until the upcoming tide makes the water clear up. Low tides can be good when chasing reds if you have the right boat to get to them however a bay boat tends to draw too much water.

Saturday we went surf fishing again but the fish never really turned on. Numbers of fish caught would have been better if would have had some experienced fishermen but the two guys on their first speck fishing trip had a good time anyway. Kind of hard to teach in the surf. We ended up with around thirty trout with a lot of lost fish and fished until nearly 3:30 pm Sat. We ended up finally getting on a pile of fish late Sat afternoon in the boat however they were nothing special and the guys decided they were over ready for the day to end which I gladly agreed to.

No charters today so Gerald a friend Sean, and myself decided to go back in the marsh in the gatortrax. Man, it was hard to get up after the all day excursion Sat! Ran across several big packs of reds early but they tended to shut down also as the morning went along however we had our 15 red limit and back at the shed by 10 am. Was a good morning. Sorry no pictures.

Sounds like some rough charters for you. At least you are catching some fish anyway.

Reds are not really spooky as much as I have found very few concentrations other than on our lease where they are loaded but can not get into in a bay boat.

Hopefully will turn it around tomorrow. Going fishing with Bigdog and his crew out of Cocodrie in the morning. Hopefully will not fall flat on my face! :-)
