enjoy fishing but can't swim and it holds them back from enjoying their time while in the boat? Hey my guys are used to me embarrassing them so I thought this would be a good question to start with ;)! I almost drownned as a young child and have vivid memories of it. My dad saved me and during my youth he bent over backwards to teach me to swim, but I panic once the water hits my knees. I don't like swimming pools, nor swimming at the lake. I know I can fish and wear a life jacket but I'm still terrified. Just courious, I'm sure I am the only non swimmer on this site! |

My grandfather (my dads dad) was that way and he wouldn't go anywhere near the water. I have no problem with it though. I would think over time you would concure it but I don;t know. They always say face your fears. |

Cat, a guy I use to fish with was admitedly a poor swimmer and it made him nervous to be on the water. Even in my john boat he would wear his life jacket. Now he lives in a home with a pool and has gotten fairly proficient in the water and is much more at ease. Still wears a jacket going across the lake though. Like Big_p said, face your fears... I hope you go on every possible FTN trip to the lake and many others. The more you are around the water the better. I cannot believe you were perched up there like that with your fear of the water. I would have never known had you not said it. I guess doing 70MPH across the lake is out of the question huh? My boat only goes about 60 max and my wife hates that... She will be hitting me in the arm the entire ride telling me to slow down. Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish
