Went to the coast with friends last weekend for a much needed break.

The monsoon that flooded Corpus almost sunk the trip.
We went anyway.
It was raining Thursday in Austin when we left and it was drizzling in Rockport when we got there.
Not good.

Woke to clear skies and almost no wind. :-)

Flipper showed.

Mexican food for breakfast and Ian was ready to rip lip.

I love the coast but rarely get the opportunity to fish there. We thought a little croaker soaking would treat us right.
It did, this is the 2nd legal Speck I've caught in my life.

Fished several spots before finding good size specks in Mesquite Bay.
My biggest Speck. 24"

Then we started catching a few reds.
Marko got his skinny butt kicked by this red.

But he won.
Our only oversized Red, 30" and was released.

Had a great weekend, it was nice to get away.
Catching fish was a bonus.
Caught 28 trout, 3 reds, 1 oversized Red, 1 flounder and a bunch of little specks and reds.
Typical tourist fish pic.

Thanks for reading.

Very nice Clark and congrats to all of you. We are heading down this weekend to PINS with a bunch from TBH. A couple of generators and lights for night time surf action and shark rods way out. Buckspert even made this gathering LOL!

Any one interested, come on down. We roll down 4x4 country till a deep 1st gut is found and setup camp.

Now you really got me itching to leave work and head to the coast today. tomorrow morning won't get here soon enough. Probably drive 90mph just to get and extra hour of fishing in tomorrow at Port Mansfield. Congrats on a nice haul of fish.
