Decided to go out Tuesday night and do a little prefishing for my next club tournament. I met my partner at the lake and we hit the water around 7:00 pm. The lake was dead calm which made it much hotter than it should have been that late in the afternoon. We fished in one main lake cove until it got dark. I managed one decent smallmouth for my effort.

Once it got dark a strong north east wind hit the lake and made fishing almost impossible on the main lake. My parter Darrell did get a nice striper that we thought was a trophy smallmouth for a few seconds.

I got one other decent largemouth before I dropped Darrel off and went back out on my own. Two more hours only got me a couple more smallmouth and a striper.

Still had a good time even with the howling wind. Night time is hard to beat this time of year. It's about the only way to get away from the crowds. I'll try to do a followup after the tournament to see if my prefishing pays off.

Good luck in the tourney Mark. I will be fishing on Richland Chambers this weekend or else I would try and make that one. Congrats on finding you a few and I hope they work in your favor this weekend. Great pics and thanks for sharing with us.

Well the tournament went pretty good. At best guess I finished in 2nd place with a little over 17lbs. Our night tournaments have 2 weigh-ins with up to 5 fish at each. So I had 5 and the first and 4 at the second. 6 of the 9 were smallmouth with 2 being 3 pounders. Should have had a bigger one in the second half that would have won it for me. I was fishing a crankbait and after what I thought was a solid hook set it jumped about 3 foot out of the water and threw it back at me. Ended up loosing 4 keeper smallmouth after the first jump. All in all it was a succesful and fun tournament. Wish I would have gotten the big one it but that fishing. I forgot my camera but one of the guys took a picture. I'll post it if I get it from him.

Congrats on your 2nd. Smallies are fun anytime but when they can put money in your pocket, they are awesome. Nice job..

Great Job Tex... Take me to Texoma and show me how to catch them now... :-)

You are surely threatening to make a repeat of last year's AOY winner for sure. Congrats buddy.

Anytime you want to go Mike just give me some notice. Sunday through Tuesday are my best nights. I know that doesn't work well with your schedule but if you can get away some night we'll do it.

Nice smallie Mark. We're headed down this weekend to fish a tournament on Sunday. I would take five of those and call it good.

Watch the weather, there might be some storms roll in Sunday night.

Good luck

Dang Mark... You certianly do know where to find the gooduns over there. We have got to get on the water together again sometime. The Texbass tournaments always seem to fall on the same weekend as my BASS events.

Congrats on the great brownie!

We'll find a day. I'll know if they are still biting by next week. If they are still on we'll try to hook up soon.
