Wear your life jacket all the time or just keep it handy? I don't practice very good safety in this department as I leave them in the storage compartment until a GW comes along and wants to see them.

When running the big motor I usually have it on. It is always out of storage compartments when I am on the lake.

LOL!

Glad you do. Know start wearing your life vest!

I sa w a guy tumble out of is boat while on pad with out a life vest on. It wasn't a pretty sight. The only reason he's alive is another boat got to him pretty quickl and pulled him out of the water. He was face down unconsiuos (sp?).

It would probably take something like that for me to get started constantly wearing my life jacket. :-(
I don't need it though, floats. :-)

I always try to wear mine anytime we're gonna get on plane.

But sometimes in the middle of the summer, especially on some of those typical windless August days, it's just too hot! Sometimes you just gotta use the "Lake Air Conditioning" (taking off your shirt, dunking it in the lake, put it back on, then make a run across the lake). Man, does that feel good on those hot days!
Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught.

My dad flipped his boat about three years ago at about 90 mph, so ever since then we wear ours if we plan on running over 50 mph

Rudey,
Why would you need a life jacket on a plane?

He was fine, some how. He is a speed nut, the pic in my profile is his new one. It runs about
140, so i guess it didn't phase him to much

My dad use to race hydroplanes in Louisiana and Texas. I was pretty young back then and only remember the photographs and trophies. He also raced dragsters in Louisiana.

I've done 100+MPH on the water and you cannot move -- friend had a speed boat that was clocked at 107 on Lake Somerville a couple times. We would meet at Wolf Park on the weekends and drink and take rides in his boat -- 454 big block in a super light hydroplane hull with 2 seats.

I wear mine when running most of the time. I sometimes just sit on it. I try to make it a habit so that when in a tourny that requires it I do not forget it, then get DQed after bringing in a 30lb sack.
