The NW wind was really humping today so trout were definitely put on the back burner. Off redfishing we went. Had a local couple with a couple I believe from Corpus Christi if I got it right. They wanted to fish live bait for redfish which is something I hardly ever do so just approached it as spoon fishing just much slower. Would set anchor and let them fish awhile and then drift until I thought there should be some fish and anchored again. About all you can do with 4 people in the boat fishing corks. The redfish were not exactly schooling or it was blowing so hard you just could not see them however we adapted and overcame and ended up with their 20 fish on top of at least ten lost fish. Found out 12 lb test is just not enough line for crimp on corks. The line was breaking right above the corks on many fish and was just losing them also. We had one run were three of the fishermen all had a red on at the same time and we lost all three. Sorry forgot the camera by the computer desk. Will try to remember it tomorrow when I run another group of people out redfishing. Quit being a mad, little bald man! Remember that a lone amateur built the Ark. Well another easy limit of 20 reds this morning with copper rex spoons. Was looking a little dismal first thing this morning but after the sun got up good the reds really started moving around. Had two triple hookups this morning. Will suck going sit at the desk again tomorrow but have charters Fri and Sat so I'm sure it will fly by fast. Sorry forgot the camera sitting in the same place as yesterday. Quit being a mad, little bald man! Remember that a lone amateur built the Ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic.

LMAO Bigun, no camera. You need a cell phone with a camera. Sounds like the redfish are falling into that pattern now. SON! |

Had the Philip's Service crew in today. The goal they wanted was to go trout fishing so trout fishing we headed. However the T Storms and pounding SE wind ended that dream quick. We came out of the mouth of the bayou hitting the gulf wide on and man was it rough!!! We shut down and gave them two options: we either get pounded for 7 miles heading to the island because fishing the coast is a no go or we go hit the South side of Sister Lake and see if we can find some trout there and slowly head in and redfish if can't find any. They picked option two due to they fish a lot and said they had no reason to get beat up! Hit a bunch of island's in Sister lake and despite pretty water and lots of bait only end up with around 7 keeper trout with a few throwbacks. We got run in by storms to redfish land. The reds were not real active today but had plenty of action just not steady. Had to fish until nearly 2:30 in the afternoon ending up with 17 reds. I personally lost 9 reds myself. Would hook up, fight the fish for a while, and then the spoon would come flying back at me. Just a funny bite and most of the fish we caught were just barely corner lip hooked. I did better with the camera actually getting it in the truck but that is where it stayed due to I forgot it there. Fishing out of the gatortails in the morning and hoping being in the smaller boat leads to better success with them not being so spookish. Quit being a mad, little bald man! Fished out of the gatortail this morning and headed for the skinny water. Fish were just real sluggish and no big groups of fish really found. For a change they wanted shrimpy colored plastic cocahos with a steady retrieve better than spoons today. Took until 10:30 or so to catch 13 reds when the guys said they were just tired of fishing like this and wanted me to bring them to see if maybe we could find some bass or trout or just look at a different scenery. Did not think I could but I went anyway just for a change in scenery. Got up in the pipeline canal and started tossing. some plastics and low and behold 8" speckle trout just about every cast. They had a blast catching and releasing these trout along with one more keeper red, a handful of trout, and three bass. Was a good day all in all. Got some reports that the redfish are unbelievable stacked up in some deep holes inhaling mullet and live larsh. Reports of 40 and 50 fish being caught. Just in time for the Rob and Drake show coming up this weekend. Will be a nice change of pace trying this action and may bring the girls for Father's Day tomorrow to confirm. Forgot the camera in the truck again. Quit being a mad, little bald man! Remember that a lone amateur built the Ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic.

BigUn you got that scene down in spades. Looking forward to next weekend. If we go live bait, I'll pull a little trick out of the bag and do it with plastics and jigs with a little side treat. Small fileted larsh or mullet tipped hook on a cocaho. Been down that path before many times. I'll use the boys dead bait to do the dirty deed LOL! |
