We headed out to Tawakoni yesterday as a family in hopes of an afternoon of swimming and sandbass fishing. We got to the lake around 5:00pm and headed towards the dam with the intention of swimming on Wolf Point then running to the dam and looking for some fishing action.

We pulled up on the point and anchored and had a great time cooling off in the water and splashing around.

The clouds began to roll in and to the West there was a solid line of visable showers moving North. It was dark to the South and then the winds kicked up extremely strong and I could see the winds blowing the whitecaps on every swell. I turned back towards the state park and headed for shelter. It was a good move because the winds just got stronger and stronger the closer the storm came. We beached at the ramp and waited to see if it would blow over and let up but it never did. We eventially tried the mouth of the ramp area for about a half hour and decided to load up and come home.

I am glad we at least got out on the lake and were able to spend some time swimming. Maybe the next trip we will be able to get some of those sandbass out there to boot... :-)
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Fishing is so over rated PQ. Heck, with a family that lovely, you don't even need to wet a line for at least 2 months. :-)

Way to go Mike. Braving the lake on a holiday weekend is a little too risky for me. I'm glad you guys had fun for a little while.

We floated the Illinois River this weekend. Caught a ton of river smallies about the size of my hand.

Headed to Texoma this Friday, hopefully for some full size smallmouths.

Smart move getting off the water. I've been caught to many times trying to get back to the ramp when I've waited to long. Usually the fishing gets good and it's hard to leave.

Hey Dru are you fishing during the day time or night? I'll be fishing a club tournament Sunday night. Let me know how you do?
If you're richer than me I think we're related. If you're poorer than me I know we're related.
