Made the 978 mile trip from Houma, La to Seward, Ks and back. Was a great and relaxing trip. Hardly even left my dad's yard once I got there and about all we did for the 5 days was install a swinging garage door on a shed, water and pick garden, and sit on the front porch viewing wildlife. Saw one bachelor party of bucks about 300 yds from the front porch and man was there two nice bucks so far in that group. Is it time for hunting season yet? While I don't have a RKZ camera my old cheap Kodak will have to do! :-)

What I saw after 978 miles!
My parent's second home (the best to me)
The kids were happy to get there.

The reason we went: to get them kids to their grandparents.
Grandma and her two grandsons
Grandpa and mine
Dad with three grandkids

Of course we had to pop some fireworks.

Man, I absolutely love my dad's place, I just wish it was a little closer!!!! I'm not used to seeing everything so green and pretty since I mainly go up there in the winter time hunting. But they can use some rain bad. Can you believe that they have had nearly 10" of rain in the last month not 3 miles to the East of them and that they have only had an inch at my dad's in June? Amazing. Hope you enjoyed pixels as much as I had snapping them.

Excellent scene control Wade! LMAO lawn yard turkeys, you can't beat that with a stick! Does the gorilla keep birds away from the turkey feeder? It looks like a gorilla, can't tell what that is on top of the barrel :-)

Thats some pretty country up there and the kids are having an absolute blast.

Great writeup Wade. I'm sure I'll regret not putting in for an out of state tag again this year. I loved hunting up there. I heard next year the eastern part of the state will switch to over the counter out of state liscenses. If that's true I bet the locals are having a fit. Good luck finding that bachelor group come hunting season.

That is a cement squirrel Rob to hold the top on. At first I thought you were talking about my 4 month old nephew on Grandma's lap! He weighs 3.5 lbs less than my 18 month old and will definitely be lineman material. :-)

Tex, they are definitely leaning toward OTC tags for Eastern part of the state and that the price on them will jump up also. Thinking is the price and just the lack of access to land will keep the numbers sold down to about the same numbers as now.

Great pictures Wade... I miss heading up there in November and freezing in the upstairs of that house. The great food, great people, and beautiful countryside.

I should make the trip just for the pheasant and quail hunting.

Looks like the kids had a great time as did the adults. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Wade, I know it was an oversight not to stop in and say hi. This happens again during deer season and you will definately be off my hero list.

I even have some baits for you to try( not that you need any help).

Dru, if you would have put a star on 'dat der' map I probably would have stopped. My eyes were getting heavy about that time.
