Anybody been fishing lately? Which lakes have ya'll gone too and what have ya been catching? I went to Big Creek late yesterday. Got on the lake around 4:00pm and fished until 8:00pm. Caught about 18 LMB's. Threw CR stud Fry's, Texas style baby brush hogs and buzzbaits. To say we WACKED'em is an understatement. Tight lines. |

Good fishin there Charles... I am hoping to take the kiddos to Fork Saturday night for some crappie... Glad you wore 'em out on Big Creek. I need to learn that lake since I can be there in 45 minutes from the house. |

I know of a pond damn I can show you. The tree lines seem to produce as well. The hydrilla is matted up pretty good now too. I might try to run out there again Sunday morning. Best part is, we were the only one on the lake |

I am hoping to head to Proctor in the morning in search of some big crappie. This weather is just right for some major fishing. Good Luck to all. |

Are y'all talking about Big Creek, just north of Cooper? Man, I used to fish that lake a ton when I was going to school in Commerce. Drag the boat to school, skip the last class and head to the lake! It was never crowded and always caught a bunch of bass. Never fished for anything else there. Back then, tube baits or Guido Bugs fished on light line along the dam just tore 'em up. Rattle traps along the riprap worked good too, but the ultralight with the jigs was a lot more fun. Do you still have to get the permit from the city to fish there? Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught.

It has been a couple of years since I fished there but I did not need a permit. I believe the lake is run by TPWD now. The day I was there the ramp was packed and there were boats everywhere after about 8:00am. The moss was so terrible that I was more frustrated fishing than getting any enjoyment out of it. I was told that there have been several double digits taken out of there but I was not quite so lucky... BWT Rudey, I like that profile picture.... Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Back then you needed a permit from the city. It wasn't that big of a deal, I think it was only like $5 or something. But you had to go to the town office to get it, and you know government offices, they were open 9:00-4:30 M-F and that was it! So if you were a weekend warrior you were pretty much SOL unless you got a registration form, mailed it in with money, and waited for your stickers to be mailed. The permit was basically two dated stickers, one for your boat and one for the trailer. Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught.

I need to give that lake a second chance. Charles sure likes it. I can't wait to get done with school so that I can make more time to fish. Maybe next spring we can get a group together to go to Purtis Creek or Ray Bob, or Fork for some early lunker chasing. I just noticed your signature... How true how true. Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish
