Finally talked a friend I hunt deer with to take me and a couple other hunting buds fishing at the coast.
We fished Friday in the CC Bay and Saturday we went a little deeper offshore, about 5 miles out.
Friday started nice.

Picked up a couple specks and then they turned off.

Tried everywhere it seemed, only picking up this little guy right by downtown.
Ladyfish maybe?

Saturday was better.
With little offshore experience in the whole group and a couple more friends in a second boat, we ran the jetty gauntlet and headed out. Found a big ship anchored at the beginning of the blue water.
Armed with the biggest Bass tackle I had, spooled with 30 lb. braided line, we began trolling.
Lemme tell ya, Bass-sized spinning tackle and King Mackeral might not be a good idea. I feared for my rods survival all day. :-)
We lost a bunch of fish but managed to land enough for a limit, exceeding our expectations.
Here's a couple:

Even managed a double, but we're not sure what kinda fish this was??
We let it go after a reluctance to even touch it.

Highlight of the day came while trolling for our sixth and final King.
A 5 foot Sailfish slammed our bait and started dancing on her tail.
First Sail I've ever seen in the wild, and man, that fish was beautiful!
She threw the hook on her second jump and disappeared.
Never thought you could hook a Sailfish 5 miles from the Port A jetty. Guess you never know what you'll catch in the ocean.

Good luck everybody and thanks for reading.

Awesome pictures. Man, that is a ton of boats out there. I want to make a ling trip soon. Those flat seas got my blood boiling.

Man - Sailfish!!! I look forward to my first sailfish!!

The unknown looks like one of them fish that stick to the bottom of sharks. Had the name a minute ago and now I cant remember.

Looks like a HECK of a day.. With bass gear it must have been quite exciting every time you get a hookup!!

Man -- A Sailfish!! you Lucky Dog you!! I ususally fish out of freeport but have been considering the extra drive to PO or PA. Better to sit in the car than in the boat for an extra hour - right? Now with Sailfish on my mind - - - - - - Something to consider!!

Congradulations on an EXELENT trip - Well Done!
All In A Days Fun!!!

I forgot about the unknown. Remora or sharksucker (species of remora) depending on lateral line black or black with white. I don't see any white on lateral line so would say it is a remora.

Clark Commands Respect on the fishing scene!!!
Congrats on a great trip Clark and a nice mess of kings. That remorea <sp?> is definately a strange one. Hooking into a sail fish and a nice limit sure makes for a great day. Excellent pictoral review bud -- thanks for taking us along.

Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish
