Well, the fishing has been terrible from a keeper sized trout standpoint. I have caught more 12 - 14 inch trout than I care to recall and finally on Thursday night I gave up on the fishing.

Wednesday morning (I think) I got up early and went wade fishing in the bay and for all of my work I ended up with a single keeper trout at 15 1/8". Wednesday night I took the wife and kids to Steve's bay house for some fishing under the lights and there was nothing really there. We caught some small trout, a stingray, and a small flounder. Thursday morning I slept in and then drove to the yaght club to meet Dean but unfortunately the idiots who re-built his lower unit either left out the upper oil fill plug or did not tighten it because it was gone. Dean had gone for a ride into Greens and on the way back to pick me up he noticed the motor making a whining noise. They pulled it out of the water before I got there and saw the plug missing then proceeded to drain a quart or so of salt water from the lower unit. Dean and I decided to just sit and drink some beer and catch up.

Thursday night I went and tried to flounder gig again and did not even see a flounder. I left the pass and went to Steve's bay house rental and caught a ton of short trout.

Friday morning we went crabbing as a family and had a great time. I tried the San Luis Pass Co. Park but did not catch anything so we headed West. Stopped off at the crabbing pier and caught a few small ones. Moved on from there to my favorite spot by Oyster Creek and started catching some nice crabs. We ended up with enough crabs for an appetizer and had a great time doing it.

crabs on ice,
corey crabs,
jessica, crabs,

Connie's brother and his family showed up last night and we had some boiled shrimp, boiled crabs, and crab stuffed flounder. Once we were done with dinner we took a walk on the beach in the moonlight and caught some sand crabs for fun then came back in and passed out.

This morning I woke up to a light north wind and flat surf. Too bad this did not come a few days earlier and give the surf some time to clear up.

I forgot to mention the ocean kayak experience in the huge rollers but I'll discuss that later. Right now everyone is getting ready to go for a swim and I need to join them.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish
