IBC held there November tournament on Bonham this last weekend and the big fish turned out. Member Chris M. had a 17lbs stringer on Saturday with a 7.00 plus kicker despite three other club tournaments on the little lake. Michele and I attended her company picnic so we missed the Saturday’s action but didn’t miss Sundays. It was a cold morning with the first frost of the season on the boat so I was glad the morning run was short. The first three spots I tried to fish there were boats on all of them so we had to do some looking before we could fish. I ended up fishing some reeds about half way back in a creek with a jig and connected with my first fish that weighted 5.12lbs. It’s a nice way to start the day I can tell you. Michele and I really wanted to fish crank baits so we headed to the other side on a point with a sharp drop off and she hooked up with a very nice 5.74lbs after making about 4 casts. We now have two fish in the box and we’ve got over 10lbs and we’re both doing our happy dance on the front of the boat. Well, things changed and the winds started kicking up strong and fishing points was not the way to go so we stated back at the reads. I picked up two more in the reeds and ended up with 4 total for 11.45lbs and Michele just had the one for 5.74lbs we both took big bass honors for the day and Michele may have took over Ladies big bass for the year (Records need to be verified). Chris M had over 27.00 pounds for the weekend. I have never seen or been on the lake with more boats then this weekend most members complained about traffic. It’s a small lake and 60 boats in a lot for this place. I guess the word has spread and the days of having it to yourself may be over. This truly a great lake to learn how to fish a jig if are having troubles learning how they bite etc…

Richard & Michele, pitchin to a tree! Hook S. E. T. T. I. N. G... :-)

What a great way to start the cold November morning with a couple of 5 pounders. I bet it was nice to feel those fish pull back huh... :-)
Excellent fish both of you...

I see you are still Chris' Biatch...

Sorry for the corny caption but it was all I could think of right now... :-)
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Those are great fish guys! The day I read about Bohnam in the Dallas Morning News was a rough day for me, I don't like Ray Sasser anymore.

Look at the bright side, more revenue for improvements...

I think one of the problems right now is that very few lakes have enough water in them to do anything. Bonham is still holding strong at 2' low and the anglers are looking for places they can fish. If I had to guess, I think you will see Texoma on a lot tournament lists next year because it is still holding at close to normal levels.

I hear there is good fishing in Coffee Mill and Davy Crocket Lakes. I wonder how their water levels are holding? :-)

Never fished it, but have duck hunted it a few times. I know a few people who have fished it and they say the fishing is better than Bonham. I have never made the extra 15 minute drive to find out.

This time of year I would be afraid to fish it with it being public deer hunting land. Would hate to get struck by a stray bullet from someone shooting at movement in the brush.

I'll check it out with you in the spring time though...

He just talked about it having great forage and said that the size per fish caught was one of the best. Can't really recall too much more about it, the article was written about two years ago.

Funny story on that actually... The baits I had been killing the fish on Saturday with were almost gone... I made a call to my ol' buddy Ozzie on Saturday afternoon and he brought be a few more..... what a pal. and is because of him I was even using that bait... So I guess you can say he helped......

He has definately come thru for me before. During the IBC Open on Fork I ran into him and he told me what he was catching them on. I had none so he gave me a few even tho we were competing against each other.

But then there was that time he fed me breakfast before going fishing and I nearly died in the back of his boat... :-)

Kinda turns my stomach just thinking about it...

There have been many other times that the food was great at the Ozziefish camphouse. BTW: That brisket cooked yet?
