Went there yesterday with my Dad and Grandpa and went up the Pecan Bayou past flat rock crossing. Caught well in excess of 100 crappie with only 26 keepers. Finally ran out of minnows when the big ones moved in. Fishing pecan trees in about 10ft of water and catching fish about 4ft. deep. Using small crappie minnows. They wouldn't even touch jigs.

Big_p, have you tried the "finess minnow" yet? I have been able to catch everything from perch to speckled trout on them. I usually use the minnows until the crappie or sandbass start biting then I move to the jig. I can just leave it hanging off the side of the boat and still catch fish on it. I use the 2 1/2" silver/grey back and a 1/16 - 1/8 oz minnow head. I have yet to be where they are biting minnows and not be able to catch fish on these jigs.

Congrats on the successful crappie trip. Man I need to get back on the water soon...

I haven't even heard of a finess Minnow. I'll have to find me one of those and give it a try next time. Thanks for the heads up. I am ready for yall to have another fish day @ Fork. I'll bring my boat and come along if able to the next one.
Picou do you fish fork much? An old neighbor of ours moved out there many years ago and opened a RV park. Their names were Barcroft and I thought you might know them if you go over there much.

Generally I just drive to and from the lake. I launch at a couple different ramps and fish. I know a few of the regulars that fish there and some of the guides. Other than that I just fish it. I used to fish it a whole lot, but this year has been abnormal for me. I have only had my boat on the water 4 trips this year -- every trip was to Fork. I have been fishing Fork since 1992 and I broke off a nice fish my first trip there and was hooked on the place ever since then.

Where do you live at? I know that Academy, BassPro, and Barlows has the minnows.

How far are you from Bridgeport? I used to have a ball fishing that lake also.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

How does the 3rd weekend in September grab ya'll? Hopefully a cold front will have come thru and at least brought the water temps down a little. It is around then that the bass start moving shallow again.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Makes me real jealous there P... I need some fresh fish badly. I was thinking about heading back to the lease this weekend to hog hunt, but looking at these pictures make me want to hook up the boat and take the kids fishing instead.

I just wish it wasn't so hot! I think there is a cool front headed this way tomorrow. Today would have been the day to try it out!

Chicken my grandpa went back up the bayou yesterday and came back with 20 keepers. Still tons of undersized ones mixed in with the few keepers. Go up the bayou past flat rock crossing and look for large chunks of pecan trees under water. That is where we have been catching the masses. Right after flat rock there is a huge Pecan in the middle of the river channel. I would start there.

Also Chicken if you use jigs use red and white ones. If you use minnows use the smallest you can find.
